Issue:
During the final ball (Ball 1), any drop target results in the game moving to "game over" state. The ball capture saucer also causes an end of game without adding the bonus. The star rollovers, pop bumpers and switch roll overs score properly during the final ball. The outlanes will score the bonus as normal during the final ball.

During all other balls (Ball 2, 3, 4 ... 10), the game scores properly and this issue does not exist. This issue only occurs on the final ball of the game. It does not matter if the game is a 3 ball or 5 ball game.

This is a brand new issue that just manifested today. The game has been playing 100%.

It is important to note that the game was moved via truck yesterday. It traveled about 200 miles. The legs were off, the head was separated and the body was prepped for shipping. All jones plugs seem to be plugged in properly. There are no noticeable physical issues with the corresponding relays.

Any thoughts as to what may be causing this problem?

Perhaps the switches on the backside of the Ball Count unit are opening too soon (Game Over is a function of the Ball Count unit). Or is the Ball Count unit actually decrementing when a drop target is hit?

I bet the score motor runs when either a drop target is made or the kickout hole activates, and on last ball, when the score motor runs, it's causing the Ball Count unit to decrement too early. If that's the case, then I'd also check the switches on the 'O' relay, to see if one stuck closed (maybe the armature plate got out of place in the move).

DirtFlipper is right again! Cleaning the ball count unit resolved the problem.

Now here is a second issue.

A previous owner created a hack where pressing the coin eject button simulated a coin drop.

However, sometimes, the game will not start properly. Pressing the coin eject button will start the score motor, but the game fails to reset the score reels.

After pressing it over and over, the game will occasionally start.

When this occurs, I can force the game to start a game by manually activating the "A" relay.

is this simply a matter of cleaning the "A" relay switches?

Could be, although is the 'A' relay an interlock style of relay on Capt. Card? If so, the two armature plates may be having trouble moving, and could use cleaning and dab of SuperLube.

Or, it could be other switches in the path to activating the 'A' relay.

(I don't have a Capt. Card schematic handy, so don't know what those might be.)
