Remove the flippers and find out what is worn or adjusted incorrectly. The flipper bearings on that year machine rarely wear out, so you might just have to raise the flipper bats a small amount.

    Quoted from Vintage-Pinball:

More than likely is that your problem will be worn flipper bat shaft bushings. As the bats are constantly rubbing against the top of them, they slowly wear down to cause the bat to scrape on the playfield.
These are a cream coloured nylon item that is held to the underside of the playfield with about 3 screws. Undo the flipper shaft at its base via its Allen screws or conventional screws and lift the flipper bat and shaft from the playfield and replace the bushings. Dont over-tension the return spring on the flippers as their solenoids have to work harder to work the flippers.
Not a bad idea while you have these dismantled to check the linkages for wear, coil inserts and coil end stops and e.o.s switches too. That will give you good flippers again! If you buy an overhaul kit from PBR, all these, including the bushings, are in the kit.

Not the case in this machine. Gottlieb started using different mechs in 1976.
