Looking for a little insight/help with a EM game that stays in tilt when I start the game. No playfield lights, only in the back box. I checked all the tilt switches(none are making contact), so I’m curious where I start first. Go easy on me as this is my first EM I’ve had the pleasure to work on... I’ve worked exclusively with SS up to this point. Thank you for any help.

most gottlieb games turn on in tilt mode. there is a "hold" relay that is normally held closed with power, of course releases with power off and puts the game in tilt. Cant have the game back in playing mode on powerup

What would cause it to stay closed?

You're saying the backglass lights up but you get nothing by pressing the start button. Are there credits on the game or is it set for free play?

The slam switch in the front door should be closed.

I’m not sure what it’s set at. I plug it in and the back box lights up like it should and the tilt light is lit. I checked the tilt switches on the door, inside the back box, on the playfield and inside the game.... those are not making contact. It’s got to be a switch locked up, and I don’t understand why they lock up.

If the Hold relay (R) doesn't stay energized when you start a game, Inspect and diagnose this circuit with Alligator clip jumper wires

Try manually closing the hold relay. if it wont stay energized then there is a lightbox slam that is normally closed and the anti cheat, bottom board or door, cant remember which

Thank you. I will try this over the next few days...EM’s are a whole different animal compared to SS, so I’m approaching this with kid’s gloves...
