I'm thrilled to dive in and join the Atlantis club. This was my newest pickup from 2 days ago. There are some really odd things about this game. This is the first pin I've ever seen with a ticket dispenser on it. There were some odd things about the way it was wired in. It looks like a vacuum tube holder was added as well and powered into the service outlet, but not actually connected to anything. The ticket dispenser was tapped into the 5V feed from the back-box GI. There are now 4 small holes and 1 big hole on the right side of the pin where the dispenser was mounted. Any advice on filling those is appreciated.

Then there's the 1970 Texas tax sticker on a 1975 pin. Clearly someone swapped the glass at some point. While I love those tax stickers, I don't want one on the machine that predates the game! Part of me would really hate to mess up that sticker by trying to remove it since I know some collectors like it.

Finally, serial numbers match but don't. The cabinent and playfield manufacturer's certificate have the same number stamped on them, but someone wrote over the last digit on the playfield sticker and changed it from an 8 to a 7.

Overall, it's in good shape. The playfield is really nice, back glass is good with a little bit of flaking on the red paint (which seems to be common). This has one of the nicest aprons and instruction cards I've ever seen. The cabinet is decent to good with most of the wear and damage on the front and to the coin door (Not counting the five holes from the ticket dispenser).

A couple other interesting things. Red pop bumper surrounds (one of the normal variations). White backgrounds on the right side plastics (as opposed to pink/purple). Green star rollover backgrounds (as opposed to red). I haven't seen that on any of the other Atlantis playfields.

The best drop targets. Making that double drop for 5K is so satisfying. The best drop targets. Making that double drop for 5K is so satisfying.

Quoted from Blitzburgh99:

Wow! 5 months since last post here and it was me? Too quiet!
I almost pulled off the “picket fence” today…knocking down all the blue targets. Anyone else ever get it done?
[quoted image]

That's a really cool idea! I never thought of trying that. I'll have to do that in my next game.

I was playing my Atlantis a couple of weeks ago and noticed that it was a bit wobbly. Turns out one of the leg bolt plates was shot and destroyed 2 leg bots. Thanks to Marco, it's all sorted out.

Quoted from ChipS:

The official Gottlieb parts list for Atlantis lists 2 A-10226 Rubber Rings (5") to go behind the drop targets. I'm curious as to how many people actually use two rings there. Most photos I've seen of Atlantis for sale usually show just one ring behind the drop targets.
How much difference does it make in game play?
[quoted image][quoted image]

Huh. That's interesting. Mine has a single ring. I had never thought about doubling it up. It plays great and I've never had any issues with balls getting stuck.
