No other way to describe it. The scoring, chimes, backglass animation and ball return are much faster than what I see on Youtube.

Working on this for a buddy. It also doesn’t go to players 2 - 4.

The ball return doesn’t activate long enough to push the ball out. I’ll add a video of the issue.

Any ideas?

#2 4 years ago

I was waiting to see how the bonus was accumulated and the balls were kicked out, but the video ended too early.

Is the game perhaps a re-import?

Hi Chris. Thanks for the fast response.

It does release the backglass balls and add the bonus.

And yes, it’s a re-import.

I could see the score reels incrementing faster than normal.

I think you have a reimport that had a 50Hz motor. Of course, here in America, our power is 60Hz. The motor therefore runs about 20% faster.

Check the motor for a part number.

I saw a Hot Shot reimport ages ago. It cranked off bonus points like a machine gun. Cool effect if the mechanical parts can run at the increased speed.

I'll take a look this morning and post it. Thanks again!

Yup. You nailed it. A re-import "Hot Shot" I had years ago had trouble counting by fives. It would often advance the score reels only four clicks. Another thing is, if he's watching a video from Australia or the UK, those machines usually run slower than normal, because they're using 50Hz for a 60Hz motor; the opposite of what he's experiencing.

We should have a "motor exchange program" with EM pinheads in 50hz countries.

I didn’t notice where the blue wire was prior to removing the motor. Where should it be?

Gottlieb B-11550 is a 50 Hz motor.

The blue wire connects to the jack with the yellow/red (YEL+RED) striped wire.

#11 4 years ago

60 Hz motor is B-7760

#12 4 years ago

If you are unable to source a replacement motor you can insert a 120 to 100 volt transformer. That should slow the motor down. An example:

Thanks gang. I’m trying to locally source a B-7760.

Some of the stickers are missing from the jumpers. Any idea what this one is?

Zog , May I use the picture you posted of the bottom of the score motor for the PinWiki? Thanks!

If you have the schematics, you'll be able to puzzle out what that 2 position plug does.

I’ve ordered the schematics. Just waiting for them.

Yes, feel free to use any of the pics, Chris.

Hi Rolf. Any idea what that gizmo does?

#24 4 years ago

Found a 60hz motor!

#25 4 years ago

That gizmo is a capacitor that creates the pseudo-random time delay for the mystery hole. You need to replace that for correct operation.

Quoted from Zog:

Found a 60hz motor!

Much better solution than dropping the voltage. I don't think that would slow down the motor at all, but would sure make the gameplay sluggish. I have a variac, and have experimented with lowered and raised line voltage. As long as the AC frequency is 60hz, the motor will run at the same speed. It's not a 110v motor. Runs on ~24V from the transformer.

#27 4 years ago

I'll try to get a part number for the capacitor.

I tried it out with a variac too. I could get it to slow down a tiny bit but not enough to make up the difference between 50 and 60 Hz motors. Below 16-17 volts the motor wouldn't turn at all. Turning the voltage up only made it louder, not any faster. These induction motors aren't designed to have their speed controlled by varying the voltage.

It’s worth a shot to contact Steve Young for the capacitor assembly. If Steve doesn’t have it then building one would be simple.

Managed to find the "gizmo" locally!

Thanks again, everyone.

I know this is an old thread, but do you perhaps still have your 50hZ motor...I'm in Germany and have the opposite problem you've described. I have imported machines with 60hz motors. lol.
If you still have it I'd be interested in purchasing from you.
