So replacing a flipper coil on the right side in my 1977 EM Cleopatra and blowing the bridge rectifier fuse when I push in the right flipper button.

Just installed a PBR new coil with diode for the right side. Old coil was A -5141 without a diode and worked fine but was the wrong coil for the machine.

The left side flipper has the proper A-17875 coil with diode and works fine. Hooked up the right flipper wiring same way as the old one and blew the bridge fuse. Reversed the wiring for fun and still blew the replacement fuse.

Bad Diode?

Bad Rectifier?

So what gives?

Problem solved.

Bad Diode. I forgot to use a heat sink when soldering the flipper wires so maybe too much heat shorted out the new diode? Also the diode was facing the wrong way and may have caused the problem?

Luckily I bought extra diodes and put a new one in and all is well.
