I have a Freddy and Waterworld that I would like to change the batteries in. Both take a 3 volt lithium CR2430 battery. I can't figure out how to remove the existing battery to put in a new one. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Use a CR2032 battery holder and battery to replace the CR2430 that is soldered to the board.

The cheap cr2032 holders fit nicely. Note that there are two positive mount holes. I'm using the lower one.

*** those sony batteries might be counterfeit *** but with the 28k 10 packs sold, i'd imagine they are fine. The chinese knock off cr2032 seem to have half the capacity of real ones, but they will still last damn near forever with a 6264 low power SRAM in standby mode.

I removed the battery from the board, but fear that I ruined it? Any idea if this will still be usable? Followed a YouTube video, but didn't get the same results. Board got burned with soder gun at extraction points.

You applied way too much heat for too long.

I would suggest taking a look at this guide:

Do you think it will still work though?

#7 6 years ago

Clean it up a bit with alcohol so you can see what is really going on.
I have seen much worse, it will still work... just needs a bit of prettying up.

Ok, thanks! I will give it a good cleaning. That gives me some hope.
