Working on a startup (score motor spins endlessly) problem on a Gottlieb "300".

I noticed that there is a green wire not attached to anything near the 2nd Chute relay (W in the schematics).

From my meager understanding of the schematic, I believe the green wire should be reattached to the terminal that also has the bright orange wire connected to the coil. (the schematic shows a green wire attached to the W relay coil).

Is this correct?

And could this problem cause the score motor to spin endlessly? I noticed from other score motor Pinside posts that any relay listed on the schematic to the right of the motor symbol could cause this problem.

Final question: Does the 2nd chute relay even matter if the game has no coin mechs and is set for free play?

Thanks for your help.

The schematic would be able to tell you where the wire should be located. Carefully check the color of the wire, because the wire color can fade over time and become a different color. Also, if the wire is the result of a broken solder joint, look for "witness marks" on the solder that might tell you where the wire should be located. From the photo, the wire looks like it should be connected to a relay switch, but the schematic should give a better idea of where the wire should go.

More likely, a disconnected wire should cause the score motor to stop... The 2nd coin chute relay could be activated by the 1st coin chute switch or the 2nd coin chute switch, so if you never use the first and second coin chutes, the 2nd coin chute relay would never be activated. And if the coin mechs are missing, the coin chute switches could never be activated by inserting coins.
