Anyone have knowledge of Sure Shot? Something is holding in my z coil(it sends to 1k chime and 1k score relay. When it's held in the chime coil will hold in and buzz and the 1k score reel will hold in messing up the proper scoring. This happens when the ball ends and counts the bonus..it is sporadic as to what it scores. If all 15 balls are lit on playfield the bonus count should be 15. It scores less because the z coil doesn't release during that count off. It will hold a couple numbers than release in the middle of the count....any help is greatly appricieated.....i think it has to do with the bonus unit/wheel.

Would a bad coil hold itself in electrically?

Going with an educated guess that it's something in the AX. It has to be adjusted just so, and they're touchy. It's held in by a cotter pin, so carefully pull that out and don't let it fall under the bottom board. Then stick your face right in there and move the plastic armature and make sure all the contacts are adj. correctly, and give them a light sanding with some 600# paper. It may be in this snippet.

The AX in the head looks good. Pulled, light sand no adj needed. I can initiate the z coil by hand and it never sticks, of course no power is being sent there when I do so. On this every time it indexes a switch is made. When I activate that switch by hand without index I get it to randomly hold in. If I make that switch 1 or 2 or 3 times it will release the z coil. I think it's in here. The add on bonus switch....

The add on bonus switch activates the z coil, it is released (open) everytime but sometimes the z coil stays energized slightly. A light push on z releases it. Also if I activate yhat switch a bunch more while z is holding in it will eventually release...
