Greetings everyone, wanted to get some opinions on what to tackle next on my '65 Bank-A-Ball. I've owned the machine for probably 30+ years, and with life being busy working / raising a family I've not done much to it other than plug it in and play it from time to time. Now I've retired, and have started repairing it. I've replaced 4 missing pool balls behind the backglass and fixed the wonky pop bumper. Plays pretty well, but still some things to work out. I do have the schematics for the machine. Anyway, attached are some pictures of my machine in it's current condition, and here are some options on what to tackle next - take a look, and please offer any opinions. I understand that some of these options are much more complex than others. Thx -

1) Replace all rubbers / burned out lights / gently clean the playfield with Novus 1
2) Figure out the reasons that the 8 ball / special never lights up
3) Figure out what the heck they previous owner did with the coin insert mechanism. they also painted the whole coin end blue - Why?
4) Re-paint backglass where it's flaking badly - mainly the blue at the very top and the white around the point score. Also do whatever I can to preserve the original back glass paint.

Thanks in advance for all advice / opinions / etc. Ken

Option 1.
Simple stuff and it will make a huge difference.

Good list of stuff.
Also clean and polish all the metal. See if you can get the rust off the legs and the paint off the coin door.

1 and 2 first. See evaporust threads for leg rust removal. Consider triple thick coating the back of the backglass. See threads on this process also. Don’t attempt to touch up backglass until after triple thick coating it.

Make sure playfield is cleaned and waxed. Also see threads.

If latex blue paint, denatured alcohol works well. And yes see threads on this also.

Good luck and post pics.

Quoted from Garrett:

Yes, they are stainless steel - but very worn
