Spent most of yesterday working on the PF ... stripped it down, washed posts and plastics, cleaned and polished and waxed PF, cleaned all light sockets and installed new #47 bulbs, flattened a couple of the plastics with a heat gun and a heavy book, and installed new rubbers. It's coming along !

It's looking good. I don't know how you were able to show us what your idea for the cabinet is going to look like, and I think it's not bad, but I would try maybe a light blue base color with that graphics scheme. It doesn't look good on white. Or maybe a darker blue with silver spatter and work in some yellow and red-orange on the graphics.

You need to put a full ring between both posts on the blue and green lane guides at the top of the playfield. Otherwise you are going to, at least, break the lamps under them and, at worst, the plastic lane guides themselves.

Looks like a nice example playfield. Wish mine had that little of wear.

Nice catch there. He did correctly install the lane guides with the open end toward the jet bumper, but as you said, a larger ring spanning the posts is needed there.

rubber kit was short 1 ring ... working on that ... it's a 3 or 3 1/2 ... 4 was too big

Another great and unique thing about SpaceShip,
is that it is the only pin that i know of
that is already lit for a special at the start of the game.

i guess im on the space ship wagon as well . i wish i had read this before about the repop as i went and ordered one. usually im not so quick , as i got this machine on friday and ordered the repop on saturday. i guess i get worried about getting a copy after finding out ron webb was out of abracadabras . i went to order one and have been in shock ever since to see they are sold out. the game is working save for bells, the coils dont look right and one they used something besides a chime. i was really inspecting the apron too as it is almost white compared to my other early williams aprons that are more almond coloured. its in good shape so i wont complain. ipdb claims the brown and teal cabinet art as the alternate. checking on the williams reserve they have also 2 designs . the one that is plain in a light blue (also the same simple art work on tenspot in red) claims its the early production artwork .

perhaps i havent had the right games , but i was surprised with the match feature built into a light box game . did i just not notice this in other games?

#59 6 years ago

The card tray is correct.
What "repop" is sold out?
Shay has the backglass on his "coming soon" list.
Every "Space Ship" I've seen has this paint scheme. I've only seen photos of the other style.
Is that your building? Wow, I'd love to have that kind of space!

This has been used on other games.
My '57 Gottlieb "Royal Flush" has the match star. I believe that it's the first single player Gottlieb with the match feature.

it was the ron webb abracadabra that was sold out , thats why i jumped on the ebay space ship one. and now you tell me shay is getting one.. oh did i ever do bad on that.. lol. yes its where my pins are, they are in a bit of dissaray right now as a few machines have been kinda put in an open spot . a few , im going to tear down to make room for others.

I just saw your post ... I was wondering about the open side of the lane guide ... didn't think that was correct ... (those were rubbers that came in kit) ... I will fix that ... Thanks for pointing that out !!

finally got around to sanding and repainting coin door ... I REALLY like this paint ... but I figured out > it does take longer to dry (I waited 24 hours and still put a couple of very light scuffs and finger prints in finish ... fortunately, they show up more in photo than with the naked eye) ... other tidbit of info > can apply paint right to metal (no need to prime) ... available at LOWE'S ...

Glad I could help.

The open side of the lane guide is required where you have exposure to ball action, especially if exposed to an active pop bumper. If it wasn’t open the ball would break it off in no time. The guard side always goes along the protected lane for smoother action.
