I'm new to Gottlieb games having just acquired my first, Spring Break. After repinning a few connectors, fixing grounds and replacing one of the 7404 chips for the switch matrix, I have it running and reliable.the one last thing that has me confused is the inlane switching not functioning. The switch under the upper right flipper reads fine in test mode and it launches the ball but inlane switching doesn't happen. Everything else works. Could this be trouble at the software level, in the ROMs? I haven't yet fiddled with it to see if it's switching the scoring but not the lights, only observed that the lights dont alternate with the flipper. Thoughts?

Before digging too deep. I'd check if the switch works with a meter and you have continuity of each wire from switch to board. Then if that is good briefly short the pins at the board, if that doesn't work then the problem lies on the board.

Can you post a pic of what switch isnt working? I had a spring break. I'm not sure what you mean by "in lane switching"

You can move the upper lights if one or two is unlit with the right flipper to "catch" a ball going through the lit lane. Knock all three out and it lights a popper for 10,000 point. Do it two more times to light all three poppers. Must be done on one ball, draining ball lights them again.

I don't have a manual in front of me but check to see if one of the dip switches isn't set to novelty or something along those lines.

Just a thought.

Yeah, those are the ones! But this feature is inop on mine. The same switch also launches the ball and that works fine.

I will check the manual again to see if there may be an adjustment I missed. I have switch 32 (I think) set for the more challenging rule set where multiball must be earned.

Maybe the harder setting make you have to nudge for them rather than lane change? Just a thought. I love playing Spring Break but haven't worked on one.

Looks like what I really need is a couple sockets.
