Heck, if you're gonna speak that blasphemy, might as well as just skip em all and get BBH.

BBH > IM

Was IM one of the choices?? Look, I love IM. I own it, and for a quick 3 games in 10 minutes, it can't be beat. So much satisfaction. However, the question wasn't about fast hitting games like that. It is about a couple deeper games that are mid-length games for playing. May as well say neither, LOTR to be the opposite end of the spectrum.

I've been watching some videos of both games and MET is an awesome looking pin, but I think GOT kicks its ass in gameplay. I will play them both again before making a decision, but im pretty sure that GOT is going to be the one that I end up buying. The game just seems to flow really good compared to MET and I also like the objectives that you have to complete more than MET. It seems like MET is mostly just bashing playield toys. GOT is also super fast and I love that.

True. It was off topic-ish. I was thinking speed of GOT pro. But, alas, you're right.

OP... Ultimately, you gotta play the games before you buy and get the one that feels best to you. sounds like you're planning on doing that... Great move. Go with your gut and have fun with it!

You definitely need to get 10-20 games on each pin if this is a big investment for you. Hopefully someone local can help you out, and explain the rules for you. That's what sold me on GOT.

I promise that it isn't. The ramps and orbits are critical during Multiball and Crank It Ups, as well as for qualifying Seek and Destroy and starting "And Justice for All". Definitely more depth and strategy than IM (which I also love, don't get me wrong).

OP, I know that I'm a trek for you, but if you want an in depth look at GOT, feel free to come by anytime to play. There are also 3 locations in the greater cincinnati area that have GOT pros. And one location has a MET Prem although very dirty but current code.

There is definitely a lot more to Met than just bashing toys

Thanks for that offer Chuck, that is very nice of you. I have a friend who lives close to my house and he has both machines and doesn't care if I come and play them. I definitely may take you up on some pinball though someday!

For those who have played both, please let me know your thoughts. I will just say that im not a huge fan of either theme and I know that MET looks better as far as art work. I do have very limited experience with both machines, and I almost have to lean toward GOT from the little bit ive played them, but like I said my experience is very limited on these two pins. So....I dont care about art work or theme, I care about which pin is the most fun. Thanks and looking forward to your replies.

Just curious... If neither game's theme works that well for you, why limit it to these two titles? There's a lot of modern sterns to pick from...

Because they are both really good games. I dont hate the themes by any means. The only themed pin that I really like is TWD and I already have one. I certainly dont like WWE or Mustang, ST, Hobbit etc any better. I played GOT and really didn't think I would like it but I pretty much immediately was like....wow this is fun!

Just to update this thread, I ended up going with GOT Pro and couldn't be happier! After learning some of the rules and getting in some good play time on it, GOT is far better than I ever imagined it would be. GOT is absolutely amazing and I will put it right up there with my TWD machine even. If you are on the fence about this game, dont be because it is unbelievable!

Tough one!

I enjoy playing got pro more, but met is so much nicer looking/better build and is still very fun. Theme wise I dont care for met, but like got.

I see you went got, I would have too.

MET is a better looking pin for sure, but GOT is just a blast to play. I have no doubt that I made the right choice.

They are both great games, that's why I had to have both!

That is two nice machines you have, should keep you entertained for a long long time. Did you just get them this year? If so, do you have any playfield issues?

I got my MET in April of 2015 when people started to have problems with playfields but mine is perfect, knock on wood. GOT I purchased in Feb of this year, slight insert ghosting on 1 or 2 inserts but has not gotten any worse.

About how long did it take or how many games before you started seeing ghosting, did it happen quickly or months later?

#71 7 years ago

I didn't even notice it until people here started complaining about it. Couldn't even say if it came that way or started after so many games. Just as long as it does not get any worse, who cares, enjoy the game.

Yup, as long as it stays minor its all good I agree. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Both are decent machines but not personally favorites. Metallica is themed amazingly, the pin is one of their best looking ones ever. I don't find it great to play, it doesn't flow that well and I find it overhyped. Also the band does little for me so that takes away, if you a Metallica fan it's probably much better to play. GoT is basically the opposite, I enjoy playing it and it flows but damn did they waste the theme. It completely misses the feeling of the subject matter. The pin visually is like an 80's spin off of the show and not in a good way.

I thought that was the point of the thread? Did I say something offensive to you?

#76 7 years ago

It is, all I'm saying is everybody has a different opinion right. I personally think MET has just about everything you could ask for in a pinball game, and GOT is no slouch but could have had better art all around.
