Didn;t update recently and leave a USB in there or something?

No. Game worked fine yesterday. Then today this happens.

I would try reseating the connectors first to the boards/DMD first. Let's try the easy stuff first.

Check the SD card in the backbox. Remove and reinstall it.

#6 5 years ago

So I checked all the connections they look good. I took out my SD card reinstalled still nothing. Then I got a known good SD card from a friend installed that and still nothing. Has anyone ever seen it where just the stern logo shows on the DMD and the game never fires up?

I vaguely remember something like that happening to me.
look at the cpu board are all the voltages checking out?
48 V, 12v, 3.3V and 5V they should have red LED's lit next to them.

#8 5 years ago

I was missing one of the voltages 48V I think, had to replace the CPU board. Luckily it was still under warranty at the time, early 2016.

if not, it might be something as simple as reloading the latest code again.

I only get the outer 2 to light up. Also the light bellow the SD card never comes on.

I bet your SD card is corrupted. I think swampfire had this issue on GOT.

What do you mean a "known good SD card"? A blank one? That for sure won't work.

yeah try to reload the code first. You could also try a new SD card if you have one, make sure it has the same amount of memory. I think its fat 12 which means if you go over the CPU won't be able to recognize the files. You will need to format the new SD appropriately as well.

second

which 2 voltages are you missing?
48V comes from the power supply and I think it's converted to the appropriate voltages via the CPU board & the other board near the power supply.

this could mean certain items on the cpu boards aren't getting the power they need. So a component on your cpu board is fried.

I don't remember the layout of the spike 1 cpu board, without seeing it, it'd be hard to verify that this is the case.
you can always test the points with a multimeter if you have one.

if the latter is true then your going to need a new CPU board. hopefully it's still under warranty because they cost 500 bucks. This is why I don't buy spike games second hand usually.

I'd call chas at tech support to verify this is the case before spending 500 bucks.

I have a friend with a GOT premium so I tried his SD card. Also I tried loading the current code but it doesn’t do anything. It never gets past the logo screen. It does seem like it’s not getting the power it needs.

wait a second

so your missing 24V and 9V. let me check the manual, need to see where 24 and 9 are coming from.

#16 5 years ago

was the coin door closed when you took the pic?
wouldn't explain the 48V being on though.

COIN-DOOR SAFETY INTERLOCK
To protect the system and for user safety, power to the playfield
is disabled when the front coin door is opened. 48V system power
and 9V node bus power is disabled to all playfield components
until the switch is closed.

this is what the manual says about the status led's

24V +24V Audio Power Red ON: Audio power supply is good,
OFF: Audio power supply off, call
tech support.
9V +9V Node Bus Power Red ON: Node bus power supply is
good, OFF: Node bus power supply
bad, call tech support.

I'm not real sure where the node bus & audio power supply is... anyone?

No interlock on spike. Except WWE.

that's what I thought to, seemed weird seeing it in the manual.
didn't remember seeing an interlock switch at the coin door.

At this point I'd wait till Monday and verify your findings with Chas and hopefully he will help you with a resolution.

This happened to mine. Exactly the same issues. I had to replace the cabinet node board on the left side.

the main cabinet node board? the larger one
or one of the smaller ones?

think this might vary from game to game, depending on what is impeding the boot sequence. Usually the smaller node boards are pointed out as not functioning on the display.

And KISS. GoT was the first Spike game without interlock. Goodbye coin door ball saver...

I called stern today and they told me to pull the battery with the machine unplugged from the wall. So far everything is working. Thank you everyone for trying to help me.

I've only been into pinball a year and I have to say everyone I have meet/buy/selling have been great people.

#23 5 years ago

Wow. That was a cheap fix. There must have been a issue with memory, or the internal clock. Something that needs battery backup. I love the old “did you unplug it and then plug it back in”

They were gonna have him blow on it next.

Glad it worked out! I have a GOTLE and I play it all the time. Great game!
