I'll install them and take pics for everyone to see, even if I don't leave them on. I saw some great looking artwork blades in this thread that I might consider since the gold blades are supposed to go on Shadow.
These are the blades I think I want, looks like they're a Stern mod. I'll still install, or at least hold the gold mirrors in place and take pics, but I think this potentially looks the best.
Quoted from EricHadley:I just can't get into mirror blades. Every machine I've ever seen with them is a mess from lifting the playfield and screwing them up.....Just don't understand the desire to get them.
For me, blades give the playfield a nice self contained 3D immersion. My No Fear with Flames pinblades looks fantastic and other games with mirror blades look shiny and clean. Plain, painted cabinet sides are boring to me.
Saw someone selling miniature swords to install next to the ramps in this thread:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/game-of-thrones-3-swords-mod
Searched around and found these LOTR swords which, I think, look much better. I don't recall seeing any swords in the GoT show that have big round jewels in the hilt or having color like the swords above have.
Plus you get 6 swords for $20 shipping (submit a best offer of $20 and it will be automatically accepted), versus 3 for $18.

Question regarding adding a subwoofer. I saw some posts about connecting a sub to the headphone jack. Normally I make a cable with clips and connect to the cabinet speaker. I don't own a pin later than 2000, so wondering the cabinet speaker is still the same?
My GoT arrived this week. I realized my gold mirror blades are for Bally/Williams, so they have the bolt hole. Not going to unpackage them since they're slotted for The Shadow.
Today I added clear flipper buttons with white LED strips lighting them up, wood signs and wired up the subwoofer. Also added the swords I bought and instead of placing them behind the stand up target brackets, I cut them to proper length and installed them on the spotlight posts to hide the ugly posts. Another sword was placed on the wall of the shooter lane and another placed across the top of the left ramp.
Still waiting for the flipper decals and the Stern desert sideart.

Quoted from beatmaster:i did that about 4 months ago for a door magnet/decal.
i can easily put that on a sticker for the spinner.
I have the other color one that you sent me with the Sword plate sticker and it looks terrific on the coin door.
On the Pro, how is the pinball in the Iron Throne secured? I want to replace it with a brass ball, but wanted to find out first if anyone knew how it was secured in place. If it has a thread hole and is bolted, then I'll order a ball with a threaded hole already drilled.
update - I see the ball is threaded in place by a bolt through the seat area of the throne. Will just need to see how to remove the throne because unscrewing the ball will cause the loose bolt to fall out of place under the throne.
The shooter rods are simple to make yourself too. I think they are way overpriced for what they are. It's literally a $3 Game of Thrones medallion epoxied to a $4 blank shooter rod. I found cool one for 99 cents on eBay that's being shipped for free from China. This one has some color and I think looks nicer than the others being used. I ordered 3 and will make and sell the other two if I like it.
With regards to the add-a-ball bonus of House Martell, it seems that if I press the Action button as my last multiball drains, it actually re-starts multiball instead of just adding a single ball. not that I'm complaining, but has anyone else noticed that and do you think that's the expected behavior or maybe a bug that will be addressed?
I also received my brass pinball and will be replacing the normal pinball in the Iron Throne with it. Should look decidedly more regal and kingly than a silver ball.
Quoted from chuckwurt:Totally expected behavior. And to be fair, your multiball doesn't start over, it adds a ball, with a very short ball saver that is much shorter than what you received at the start of the multiball.
I'll pay more attention playing it tonight, but I swear it adds more than one ball. I typically hit the button when I get down to one ball left in any multiball.
Yes, I also sometimes wait until the final ball drains and then press the button and it starts multiball over. Also works with Battle for the Wall.
Yeah, I get that point of view about needing to hit a hurry up to re-start multiball. This is my first Stern, so I'm not familiar with the way the ball save feature works on other games. I thought it might have been a bug....a nice bug though!
Quoted from markp99:I noted, "He's from House Greyjoy - PURPLE inserts."
Me too, just last night watching the finale! Then later, I was like, She's the grandmother of House Martel - right orbit.
Today, while working from home, I replaced the pinball in the Iron Throne with an $8 brass bearing - aka pinball.
I also used the button hole insert on the front of the cabinet for my headphone jack install. Simply a 5' male/female extension wire with the plug epoxied into the hole I drilled in the button cap. Pics also show the swords I used to hide the lamp posts.
I didn't remove the throne because it seems to be attached to the plastic it sits on, and I would've needed to at least loosen the ramp to get to it.
Luckily the throne doesn't need to be removed. The ball sitting there is threaded on to a bolt sticking up in the throne's seat. Unscrew the ball, remove the two washers and then the bolt will just have to be pressed down into the seat. No way to remove the bolt without removing the throne. The I used a little epoxy and secured the new ball.
Got to WHC for the first time last night. Would always forget about it and kept the goal in mind after reading this post. Forget what score I got, was just excited to start WHC.
$. 99 cent shooter rod I made yesterday.
Had a spare rod to test with. I used my bench grinder to get the knob flat and then epoxied the 99 cent necklace medallion to it (free shipping from China).
Looks nice and it will dress up the front of the cabinet. Plus, I like the feel of a real shooter knob and this mod doesn't change the feel of it, just improves the appearance.
Quoted from Eskaybee:Speaker Volume: 12
Bass: 102
Treble: 90
Speech Attenuation: +10
Music Attenuation: -10
Trying these settings now. Thanks! And I agree that I don't think I'd change any music tracks, love the music.
Would love to have some unused callouts enabled though.
I wasn't the original purchaser and went to the distro who sold it (Automated in CT). Mike Sedona didn't give me that option, even though I thought that's how it should be handled.
Quoted from beelzeboob:Who's Mike Sedona?
POC at Automated who I dealt with regarding the warranty replacement.
My display also has that line in addition to the vertical line in the pic I posted above in this thread. Not sure if that is normal or adjustable.
I just got the Stern sideart blades and they look incredible. Adds artwork that is needed since the playfield doesn't have a lot going on.
I played blind without the DMD since it's out for replacement. Don't know my scores, but still had a blast!
I also just connected the subwoofer to the bottom cabinet speaker like I do for all the games.
For headphones, I opted for simplicity and an under $10 cost. I used a 1/8" extension cable that is plugged into the jack in the backbox and runs to the front of the cabinet. I removed the plastic cover for the unused button hold. I drilled a hole in that plastic cover, inserted the female end of the cable and added hot glue to the back. Replace the cover and done.
I'll open the coin door to manually adjust volume when I use headphones instead of paying $100. Does Pinnovators fully work on Spike systems? I thought there was still a need to open the coin door for some volume control?
Quoted from Dewey68:Is that Sade in the background? ^^^^^^ I also see Pretenders, and maybe Toto?
Good eye! We've got lots of albums on the walls for sure.
Quoted from PunishersLEMC:Any idea where to get the wall pieces???
