My kids were up an hour early this morning. The time change is a pain in the ass.

    #4 5 years ago

Most of Canada has the time change.

I’m up early. Kids don’t understand the time change

    #5 5 years ago

It means I get to work an extra hour tonight....

Get pissed about it because its daylight at 6:00 am and pitch black at 4:45 PM. Indianapolis and AZ have it figured out.

You obviously have an extra hour of time, if you wrote that post.

No pinball machines in my Hong Kong home. So, yes, I do have an extra hour!

OK...Thought You were really good as Your location in China shows a high rise on Pinside map.

That elevator would get a workout!

    What state R U in the U.S.?

The adjustment sucks, but so does getting up in the morning with my kids and sending them off to school in pure darkness.

Or in the summer instead of having a 9pm sunset, its 8pm.

One of those would be the trade offs for no shift in time.

3 days from now this is all over with and we're used to it again.

    #18 5 years ago

I don't even know what time it is right now.

I third that emotion. Outdated policy that makes little sense (to me anyway).
I have 9 "clocks" of some form or other that need to be changed manually and a couple of them are a PITA to change.

Yeah, I live in a high rise. Thankfully it has an elevator.
My stateside home is in Mississippi.

Love it when the sun goes down early. Makes playing pinball more enjoyable.

We had it figured out in Indiana...then someone thought we needed to be on the same time zone as New York. They claimed it was more attractive for businesses...I think they wanted it for more time on the golf courses. I have yet to this day talked to someone that thinks DST is a good idea where we live.

And honesty, with our world running more 24 hours a day...is it really needed?

Dogs don't care about the time change either. They wanted out/breakfast regardless. I did manage to catch some of the sunrise.

Only one reasonable solution. 6 hour work days. See how easy that was.

I installed a new ms.pac board with my time, of course it took longer to pull the machine out than it did to swap boards.... and the other 55 min I spent playing ms.pac

Here in Florida, The Sunshine State, Id like to propose a change that the sun always sets at 8 PM.
I dont care when the sun rises, just that when we get cooler weather, people coming home from work can enjoy the outdoors for a few hours, instead of in a box.

What about Canada? You list countries I've never heard of but forgot the best? LOL.
Lucky for me I live in Saskatchewan, Canada and we don't recognize the silly time change thing

    Daylight Savings Time

The beginning of the end for drive-in theaters. I used to live behind a drive-in theater ( there was strip of no-man's land between the neighborhood's back yards and the theater fence. The neighborhood kids would hang out, watch movies, and get drunk. Someone unraveled the chain link fence and made a hole so we could walk in and go to the vending area. There was no vandalism and management left the hole open. Good times. ).

That theater lobbied hard to keep DLS from happening with petitions to sign, etc. That was about 1967-68. Around 1972-73, the theater was gone and a bank building took its place.

We are now losing our last drive-in. A two-screen outfit. I have not been to a drive-in in years but it is still sad to see the end of an era.

This article is 30 years old

    http://articles.latimes.com/1988-07-10/business/fi-9345_1_drive-in-theaters

    " Offers Reason

Jack Absher, who owns indoor theaters with 15 screens in eastern Kentucky, closed the Prestonsburg Drive-In, the last of three drive-ins he once owned, two years ago. Unlike Green, he sees only one reason for the decline of drive-ins.

"I blame it solely on daylight-saving time," Absher said.

When daylight-saving time was introduced permanently in the late 1960s, the starting time for summer drive-in movies went from about 8 to around 9 p.m. Many people, Absher said, found they could no longer attend and then get up in time to go to work in the morning."

I know the feeling we lost our drive-ins in the late 70's, very early 80's. Have a lot of great memories from those days, wish my grandkids could of experienced the drive-in, it was such a huge part of the American family for so long. Sorta of similar situation for the small amusement parks in the Cincy area, when they built the behemoth Kings Island the smaller ones fell by the wayside one by one.

I forgot about it for a slit second. We were cleaning and I told my wife and kids we should probably start getting ready for church. My wife reminded me about the time change and we proceeded to make some eggs and ham for breakfast.
