Gorgar will not start. I replaced all boards in Gorgar with Kohout boards. The game lights up when powered up but will not accept credits and start up. No sound. Also only player displays 2 and 4 light up. Players 1 and 3 do not light up and the strobe signals from mpu seem not to be there.

The power supply LED's are all on. I measured all voltages (ok) and tested all fuses (ok). The MPU LED's are all on. The jumper settings are correct.

The game worked with all the old boards installed. It also worked with the original MPU and driver boards installed along with a new speech/sound and a new power supply board.

When I press switches on the playfield the driver board diagnostic LED's do react.

The machine was completely disassembled, cleaned and painted. The cabinet wiring looks good. All the wiring to the boards APPEARS to be correct.

Thanks in Advance for any input.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year!

I wish I was familiar with these boards so I could help you. What was the reason for switching out the working/original boards?

Can you press on these parts to see if it makes a difference? pasted_image (resized).png
If there is no difference, swap the (2) 6821 PIA 40 pin parts to see if that then allows the switches to work. If it does, then your lamp matrix may have an issue, but it would point at a failed part.

Thought I'd chime in and suggest to check your tilt switches. Especially if you disassembled and repainted.

Do those boards work in other games? If so check the dipswitches are 100% set for gorgar.

Are the connectors below the backbox ok? I think there's 4 or 5 of them that go to the playfield & cabinet.

So you have new MPU and Driver boards?

So you have new MPU and Driver boards?

Uh ... sentence 2 stated it and pictures of the boards proves it does.
