I have a Gorgar that I have been working on for awhile, im at a loss. I've worked on quite a few bally/sterns and williams design of boards of this era are somewhat complicated to me, why interconnect?
Game boots up fine into attract mode, when I go to start a game, the right slingshot, and left pop bumper lock on. I verify that it is the board by disconnecting 2J13. I desoldered the 2 original 7408 and 7402 chips on the board associated with the chips, and put new machine sockets in. Was my first time doing this but had someone watching me and they said it looked great and no continuity issues.
Per pinrepair.com
"In addition, right when a game is started, a special solenoid can 'lock on'. This is often due to a playfield switch being stuck closed. But it can also be a problem with the 7408 or 7402 chip(s). If removing driver board connector 2j13 (upper left corner) unlocks a stuck-on coil during game play, then the problem is on the playfield. If the coil stays locked on during game play with 2j13 removed, the problem is on the driver board with either the 7408 or 7402 chip(s)."
. The steps I took did not resolve the locked on coils when going into game start OR coil test. I tested the Transistors associated with the coils, nothing tests incorrect. Where do I look next? Thanks
P.s. I already ordered a brand new driver, but I would like to see if I can get this running
