    Try spraying the volume pots with deoxit/contact cleaner. If still not correct then I would switch back dip and see if it’s normal again. Since that was the only change you made. After that try installing a cap kit. Could fix your heartbeat issue too.

    Great! Did you check to see if the heartbeat issue was resolved? If not I swear by replacing the electrolytic caps on sound boards. I have had many early SS games that had audio issues clear up as a result of installing new caps. I would still clean the pots and even inspect the fuse clips, connectors, and socketed IC's for being loose or tarnished.
