So I am trying to keep from buying a new pinball by bringing my older pins in the house. Gorgar entered and has a few little issues.
first off I am getting the 1496 error. I have been able to get it to boot by opening the coin door and turning on and off fast.
I tested the battery holder and I am getting 5 v off the corners....what else could it be? I also re seated the big 5101....what is next?

thanks

I had that happen to my Gorgar a few months back
I too checked the batt. pack and all was good. Turning it on and off rapidly about 3 times solved the issue.
Hasn't happened since. I did check with other Gorgar owners who had the same error- that was what they did too.

well It works but only with the coin door open and once I shut it down again it is back to square 1....same error and all settings lost.

yours has never done it again?

are you getting 5 volts on the board?

#5 10 years ago

at the test post? or the battery holder?

#6 10 years ago

There is probably corrosion on the MPU board itself under/near the battery holder.

That generation battery holder tends to rot and fall apart quite easy. I always recommend checking for voltage at the test points instead. Could also be a sketchy blocking diode.

I will check both tomorrow..thanks I have ordered a new battery holder

Your best bet is to install a remote battery holder so that the batteries will no longer be on the CPU board - or close to the Driver board.

#10 10 years ago

Correct - do not install batteries on the MPU boad.

Always install them remotely.

Or a memory capacitor or NVRAM. Just no batteries on the board.
