Ahoy folks,

finishing up a complete resto-mod on a Gorgar.
The IPDB.org is down. My printed schemmy does not have enough detail to make out transistor numbers.

The problem is the controlled lamp for number "4" and "target 4" are not working.
I have power to the lamps and the bulbs are good. I suspect the a lamp driver tranny or predriver is bad.
I can't see enough detail on my copied schemmy. Does anyone have a real schematic or a better copy that could tell me the associated transistors? Row 4, column 4. Row 8, column 4. if that helps.

Thanks,

Milton

Column 4 looks to be Q69.

You sure it's not the sockets or anything? If any of these transistors was bad you'd have to have a whole row/col out

Thanks for the reply. All new machine pin sockets. What is the column drive tranny?
There is power at the sockets. Leads my to believe it's a drive issue. When Ipdb comes back I'll look at the schematic in detail. Can't be too tough. Everything else is working.

Ipdb down due to hurricane?

ipdb is down to due harvey, yes.

column drives are Q63-77 in the top picture, in order from 1-8.

Check the wiring and diodes on all the lamps in that column-give each wire and diode leg a gentle tug to be sure they're firmly attached. Maybe a daisy-chained wiring connection is broken (or hanging by a thread) or a diode leg broke off from the lamp's solder lug... allowing certain lamps on the same column to work while others don't? As zacaj said, a driver board issue would likely affect the *entire* row or column. If all else fails, I'd try replacing the lamp sockets before replacing anything on the driver board. Could just be a coincidence you've got 2 bad sockets on the same column. Good luck! Let us know what you find!

P.S. ipdb appears to be back online

Ahoy frunch,

I did check all diodes. They are the freaking glass ones. Hate those.
It has to be something stupid. I'm moving the machine to a better lit area next week.
Possibly a cold solder joint on the feed for "4". Sockets are fine. New. (checked anyway).

I'll post the answer next week.

Sounds good. Good luck! As you said, it's probably something minor... You'll have it nailed soon enough. Awesome game, btw. I've really been tempted to hunt one down for my collection, but I'm pretty much out of space for now
