Quoted from sparksterz:They did close the preorder section of their site and put up a disclaimer including:
"We will get to those last ‘Preordered’ runs this year, and email those on the lists when the time comes to ship. Finishing up the old model once and for all."
Either way that is good news. Was Gorgar in the Preorder category or the Boutique category at the end?
Quoted from sparksterz:It was in the pre-order phase. I still have my email from when I signed up on it.
Thanks. That is what I thought but I hadn't checked status in a long time.
Quoted from MisterScappy:Interesting that these have amber inserts for "D" and "E", instead of the original green.
Mine has green as well but there are a lot of pics online of amber. I'm in either way!
Quoted from Cherries_Jubilee:you are correct, Many "years ago" - back when there was an art team - one of the artists claimed he had done the art for it, then when Stu took over as the Art Director and was getting everything in order he came to find out the artist never even started the artwork.....
Thanks for the follow up. I was curious what had happened.
Quoted from Travish:Back up peoples. Get in line. Here on Wednesday (hopefully).[quoted image]
Did yours make it today? Mine is supposed to get here tomorrow. Just wanted to check out the real deal.
I've cleared off the top and some of the bottom in preparation for the swap. I'm so excited!
Quoted from Travish:No not yet. Been sick last 2 days.
Did you get a tracking notice? I didn’t. Looks like I’ll have 14 days to work on it.
That sucks! Hope you're feeling better soon!
I didn't get a tracking number. I PMed Mirco to check and it looks like I should see mine tomorrow.
Quoted from paynemic:Smooth as glass and nice hard feeling clearcoat!! Me got you![quoted image][quoted image]
That looks great. Theres going to be some great playing Gorgars soon!
Can you guys that have your Mirco playfields tell me if the holes have been cleaned up after the clear? Specifically wondering about the pop bumper "nail" holes.
I was under the impression that they didn't usually but it looks like they might be from the pics.
Thanks!
Quoted from Highclasspinball:All holes are clean. There might be some white dust from polishing in some holes, but for sure no coat.
I'm glad they arrived save!
Regards,
Mirco
That's a great bonus. That should save some work. Thanks!
I have my slip to go pick mine up tonight. I'm so excited!
Quoted from Viggin900:I am willing to go as far as saying Gorgar has the best artwork above any other game. The whole thing is entirely its own world. When I first got mine I had to search if there was a movie or comic book it was themed from I didn't know about. Never gets old.
My son and I were looking at the new playfield (absolutely gorgeous) and the backglass. It really does seem like they had a whole plot figured out before doing the art. The art we see is just the highlights of the story. Like this guy:
gor (resized).jpgI have some spare parts from my Gorgar if anyone needs them. I have a set of drop targets with stickers, and a fairly average condition plastic set (the pictures show the worst of it). Let me know what you can use and we'll figure it out.
I also have a question:
On the large plastics there are some stand up spacers (pictures). What is the best way to deal with these?
Quoted from paynemic:So are these spacers riveted onto the plastics? That an interesting problem for me. I’m making the playfield swap next week.
Yep.
Quoted from winteriscoming:CPR used to have instructions for these. IIRC, you can use a drill bit wider than the hole and slowly drill from the top to remove enough metal to get them to where they can slide out through the bottom. Then you can reuse them on the new plastics by inserting through the bottom and allowing the screws to hold them in once installed.
Thanks for the confirmation. That's kind of what I assumed. I'll see if I can find the instructions but I think I can handle that either way.
Quoted from Impzilla:My displays were easy to install.
Keep the cables with tight bends and flat against the wood.
I used some two sided foam tape to keep the ribbon cables on the wood and from touching the backglass.[quoted image]
That's perfect. Thanks. I'll do that exact thing!
Quoted from iamdrunker:I like clamping my playfield to the rotisserie, taking everything to bits, cleaning, adjusting, leveling inserts, you know the drill. But for some reason I always leave the robbed and abused coin door for last. Here is another example.[quoted image]
So do I. It's weird too because I really like doing them whenever I do. They're usually really fun because the results are so dramatic.
Well, it's finally done!
Gorgar may be my favorite pinball machine ever so when reproduction playfields came out I decided to jump in head first.
2 ish months later I get to play this beauty. I made it exactly how I wanted and I couldn't be happier. New playfield, plastics, pops, displays, drop targets. Upgraded the flippers and speaker and had Chris Hibler go through the boards.
I gotta tell you, it's a relief to have this thing done with relatively few headaches. Now, I'm going to go see if Gorgar appreciates the work or if he's still a nasty SOB.
Quoted from leckylove:Looks great I restored my playfield a few yrs ago and 2 part clearcoated it. I would love to upgrade the speaker and flippers. Can u share which speaker you used and where u bought it? Also did you buy a complete assembly for the flippers and where if so. Thanks
Sure thing. Here is the speaker I used.

It's very clear but I haven't notice any other real difference.
Here is the flipper kit I used. You'll need left and right.

Quoted from sparksterz:How did this go adding it to the new playfield? I've been considering this on mine as I need new flipper bats anyway and have a playfield swap to do.
I was worried about it but honestly, it couldn't have been easier. Just need to move the wiring around. Go for it!
I'm learning a new video program and thought I'd share a quick video I made. Not my best game and i have a magnet on order but everything else is playing pretty well.
Let me know what you guys think.
Quoted from sparksterz:Anyone recommend anything else I might want before I start? It'll be my first playfield swap.
I'd get some zip ties if you want to wash the wire harnesses, toothpicks and super glue to fill mis-drilled holes if you are using a Mirco, tee nuts, a drill with sharp bits, either bit stops or tape to not drill through playfield.
Take tons of pictures before you start and at every single point along the way. You won't need most of them but you will really want to have the ones you need.
I have a bunch of pics and did my swap a couple months ago. It went pretty smooth aside from Mirco quality issues. If you need any help just message me.
Quoted from sparksterz:Alright, I'll pick up new bits because I've abused most of mine, and drill stops because I don't trust myself with tape.
I've not used T-nuts before. Just looked up a video online and it looks pretty straightforward, drill a hole the size of the barrel and twist in something to tighten, or if you're real careful, a hammer. Is there a consistent size used? Or should I just try to pick up a variety set on Amazon?
I got some from home depot that were the wrong diameter and didn't fit. I had to order from a pinball supplier (pinball life). Don't recall the total but if you order 5 8/32 and 20 6/32 you should be good.
Quick question regarding my flipper wiring:
When I did my play field swap I upgraded the flippers. I wired everything up like it was originally and based off pictures of similar swaps, including what mof did. I didn't see a big improvement but they seem to work fine.
Today I was checking another issue and noticed that it seems like the flippers are using low voltage to flip and high voltage to hold.
Can someone take a look at the wiring pictured and see if it looks correct? These pics are Mof's but it is exactly how mine is done. I can stop the flipper with little effort until the eos switch opens, then it is very strong.
I'm very confused because it seems like it is wired correctly but is behaving like it's backwards.
Quoted from Moeman65:Sounds like you have wiring to the E O S Switch reversed. Try reversing them.
Thanks for your suggestion. That was my first thought as well but I'm not clear exactly what to change. See my pics: I can't get them to read in the right order but you get my drift.
I guess my biggest thing is I don't understand what could be backwards if nothing change from how it was originally.

Gotcha! Now I can see what you mean. I'll give that a try. Thanks for taking the time!
Quoted from rdonohue13:Ok I just joined the club and I have the machine playing pretty well except for the spinner. no matter how hard I hit it how solid or not I get like 4 hits and it stops. How do I juice the spinner to get that wonderful feeling of a job well done.
This may be oversimplification but this is what I do:
Make sure the arms aren't bent and they create a straight line.
Polish the arms and clean the holes where the arms go.
Put like a half drop of 3in1 oil on each arm.
