Hello i want to buy my first pinball machine that needs a bit of work. Gorgar. It needs one drop bank and the person says it looses memory but after a reset it works fine. The person wants 750 for the machine. I know the drop bank is a easy fix. Is the memory issue a easy fix. I may try to talk them down on price.

#2 11 years ago

With no Playfield wear I think this is a 800-1000 game. 100% working. With issues or wear the price comes down. Any pic of the machine and or playfield?

#3 11 years ago

a little pricey for a non 100% working gorgar

#4 11 years ago

Too much for a Gorgar with issues.

#5 11 years ago

If it's not storing scores or setting, it could very well have corrosion on the board. Typically, you'd have to replace the battery holder, ram, and blocking diode. It could just be dead batteries...but I'd bet they've leaked.

This seems reasonable to me as well, but man prices have been going up lately. I would LOVE a Gorgar, but $750 to me sounds like it should all work but may have some light but noticeable wear here and there on the playfield

#7 11 years ago

prices vary in different parts of the world - not sure of your location but it does factor in even with the army of gorgar #s being high back in 79

#8 11 years ago

i asked about the batteries and they said there is no leaks and its still attached to the board so in needs to be moved. I have pics of the machine and it does need a good cleaning and some plastics need to be redone but not cracked just peeling. back glass is in decent condition. adding one close up of the playfield that may help the most.

Looks like a bit of flipper drag, otherwise pretty good cosmetic condition. I sold one a little while ago for 750 with very little wear, shopped, and fully working. It's an OK game. I bought Gorgar thinking that I'd be selling Flash. It was pretty evident to me that Flash was a much better player, and Gorgar got the looks.

750 isn't bad, but it's missing a full bank of DT's? The boot issues would also concern me if you don't have any board experience.

#14 11 years ago

I didn't see the upper and the bg when I posted. Those both look good, the BG looks like it's in really good shape..

#15 11 years ago

awesome my orginal plan was to buy a commercial fireball machine to add to the home version but a different machine would bring balance. I found gorgar on a pinball game on my XBOX and that is where i fell in love with the simplicity of the game. It has one playfield like my home version and the sounds are similar to Williams Stargate Defender that I had sold about 4 years ago which is good that i sold it as the basement flooded the following year.

#16 11 years ago

I would love a collectors quality Gorgar. Would have to be a 10 out of 10 with even the cabnit art clear coated . . . I'd set it up as basically a display piece in my office. I'd bling it out with chrome body armor too; sweet looking game.

If anyone has a 10 out of 10 Gorgar for sale, PM me and lets discuss . . .

#18 11 years ago

holy heck 5 grand and the back is coming apart that is horrible ebay is a horrible money pit

#19 11 years ago
Quoted from dementedwarlok:

check ebay if ya want to travel and pay 5grand+ Ebay link

Horrific condition!

#20 11 years ago

It's at Pinballz arcade too.....played it about a month ago and it plays like s*it.....made me stop and think if I "really" liked Gorgar back in the day.

I did....but this machine play
ed horrible!

Don't think I'd pay 500 for this one, much less 5k.

#21 11 years ago

$750 seems a tad high for a machine with the issues you listed. That PF is going to need a serious cleaning. 100% working I would possibly consider that asking price if there were no chips off the PF. In the current condition I would probably aim around $500, maybe you and the seller can meet somewhere in between. As stated by Deaconblooze if that main board has corrosion from acid leakage you could be looking at some money down the road so take that into consideration. Best of luck!

Note: That eBay seller should be ashamed of themselves for asking that price on that machine beat up or not!

#22 11 years ago

I try to get it for around 500 too. Gorgar was one of my first loves in pinball.

#23 11 years ago

Gona try and sell mine in the 1200-1400 range this week,
first pin I ever bought- kind of hard to let go if you know what I mean

#24 11 years ago

BG looks really good for a Gorgar. Most of them are wrecked. For reference, I picked up a Gorgar recently for $600, works perfectly, came with a spare backglass (both need work), spare playfield (the one on it is in pretty bad shape, the other one is about like yours) and a spare apron. $750 does seem a little high but not astronomical.

#25 11 years ago

who cares? if you want to play it buy it..restore it...love it..Gorgar rules!

#26 11 years ago

^ yeah Gorgar rules

#27 11 years ago

Someone on this site bought a NOS play field off of Ebay and sent it to HEP. Looks gorgeous and shiny. One of a kind. Also, I saw tntamusements had a brand new back glass, 10 out of 10 put in one of theirs.

I will be on the lookout for NOS Gorgar pieces over the next few years I imagine. The machine is just so darn pretty!

#28 11 years ago

I think we are all missing the big question here; does Gorgar have a mustache or not?

image.jpgimage.jpg

#29 11 years ago

Gorgar likes to watch

#30 11 years ago

I've had two different Gorgars and they keep slipping out the door. Sold one and traded the other for a Barracora. I'm on the lookout for another one.

#31 11 years ago

If Flash was Gorgars older brother and the powers at Williams gave him speech (6 words)
what would they have been?

#32 11 years ago

I think I am gonna pass on that table. Looking into a strange science table 1600 oho it been shopped and is working with topper. Its a local game store that has it.

#33 11 years ago

Gorgar doesn't have a mustache I don't think. Anyways I bought mine about a year ago for 400 in VERYnice shape complete in every way. Needed some work but nothing huge. I wouldn't go higher than 500 on that one. Good luck gorgar is awesome.

#34 11 years ago

Gorgar is a great game. That is why 14.000 sold. It was the time of DD so players were digging them. The playfield was a hit and the colors were awesome. There are cheaper Gorgars out there but if you don't have to travel far and get the price down a bit i would snatch it up. Let me know what all your high scores are on gorgar.

#35 11 years ago

I still can't break 500,000 on gorgar....I suck

#36 11 years ago

wait till you roll it ^
what a rush

#37 11 years ago

741k

#38 11 years ago

With how many of this game were made I am surprised there isn't more NOS playfields and backglasses and what not. None to really be found anywhere.

#39 11 years ago

I know for awhile new repro BG was available from the West Coast
think I paid about 300 for mine? but havent seen any since

Jeez. That's about 400 too high for that too.

that is why i will make a offer and if they dont like it then i will pass. I know its going to take time to find a machine and i am not in any big hurry. Looking on the market here and seen a flash and that table has some nice art! I like art which is why i love the Bally Fireball Home model we have now it has detail and when i was looking for a commercial Fireball i noticed there is not much art to the playfield. That is why i like gorgar it has some nice art work. I want a non licensed style pinball not something that was made because of a movie.

If you like the art, you'll love the game. That's the biggest hang up for most people. It doesn't bother me, but I much prefer Gorgar's art.

Flash is a great playing game. There were 19k of them made, and they're usually pretty cheap. Usually a lot of wear around the globe area.

#43 11 years ago

I do like Gorgar even though i have only played on my XBOX. I know nothing beats the real thing!

Artwork is becoming more and more important to me for some reason . . . which means older games are becoming more and more appealing. It is kind of an odd thing, but I'd rather have a HEP Gorgar blinged out with chrome and LED's than an Avengers in my office (as kind of a piece of art)...I'd prefer the Avengers for my house.

#45 11 years ago

Yeah i played that WOZ table and it was cool but i am not used to walking away with 3400 as a score i am so used to hundred thousands and millions. I have a love hate with these newer models. I do like ramps and multiball and dot displays.

#46 11 years ago

o and EM's are great too love the sounds of them

I think Gorgar sports a 70's style stash.

Yeah, I could swear I saw Gorgar in a 70's porn flick.

That is strikingly similar.

That had me rolling laughing. Good stuff! Glad I opened this thread after bitching and moaning about my XMen code in another thread.
