***WARNING***Before we begin: If you are all about keeping things stock please run as fast as you can away from this thread.

I bought this game from a local pinsider. It was a good restoration candidate due to it's price, condition and market value. As usual I forgot to take before-pics

Electrical Condition: CPU problems, Audio problems
External Cabinet: nice, clean 9 out of 10
Coin Door/Legs: both original and in nice condition
Internal Cabinet: nice, clean 7 out of 10
Playfield: 7.5 out of 10. needs a bunch of touchups and swirls removed and centaur-yellowed
Plastics: Solid but need flattening
Backglass: very nice but lift trim oxidized and stained as usual

Here's what I did to it:

New parts:
-drop targets
-pop caps & skirts
-rollover buttons
-flipper kits and bats
-used/repaired mpu
-LED GI, Inserts, post lights, accent strips
-alltek LDB for leds
-playfield glass
-leg bolts
-feet
-chrome accent strips

Everything else on the game including playfield all hardware is original. There was no plating or powder coating done but I think I have about 40 hours of tumbling and 20 hours of buffing into this game. There is also a good deal of paint work as you will see.

Smooth, isn't it?

whoa. two compliments from 2 masters of the art. awesome!

Quoted from cody_chunn:

That's a YUMMY looking 'Taur! If I have to find something to criticize, I'll say you should have stained all those post light circuit boards sharpie black so they fade into the surrounding art work.

the candy-apple and all that shine gives the camera fits in the gameroom, it's even yummier in person. when I look at it i cant decide whether to play it or lick it. great idea on the post light boards. if I ever do posts again i would do that for sure. those things are super time consuming as you probably know or can tell from the nuts and bolts pics. the little plug & play/lead setups that come with them are worthless if you want a clean look so each pad needs to be hardwired. art was cool enough to set me up with a set when they first came out. i used them on galaxy. the use of them here is much better though since centaur is a pretty dark game.

thanks bud. this is my 6th attempt at a restoration. this game just begged me to be blinged out with it's color scheme. i'm pretty pleased with the final presentation regarding what I chose to paint and what I chose to polish. even though it's totally non-stock it almost looks like it could have been.

Quoted from snyper2099:

I like it very much but one very minor criticism... Put some Bally flipper bats in there.

didn't i warn you and tell you to run the other way lol.

i bought these "brushed" aluminum ones from pinball life. they were pretty dull until I wet sanded them and buffed them for about 20 minutes each. http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=3145

I wouldn't buy them and expect to bolt them right on. they look unfinished, not brushed.

Nicely done. Very sanitary. Cool leds too.

sanitary. I like that. it does look like you could eat it. my gal is going to flip out when she comes over tonight

Quoted from Colsond3:

Awesome job on the game Rob...like the personal touches. Definitely an example I would buy in a heartbeat.
I will say I did notice that you apparently missed buffing one screw on the bottom of the playfield near the upper inserts...hahahaha. Had to because beelzeboob kept his comments so light!! Great job dude, and compliments from quite a few knowledgeable restoration specialists on here to boot!! Congrats.

i'm not seeing that screw
