I got a ping from a friend yesterday, black rose on cll for $400
I read the ad and called, I was the 3 caller. Already a bidding war. I was going to just let it go but I started talking with the guy. I explained how I did not want to flip it and it is a game I have been looking for for some time. I then told him I would go to 800. He said it's yours if you can come tonight. 3 hours each way. Well, Iong story short, it's in my game room now. Cab is faded. Playfield very nice. All original manuals with it. Start button was wired wrong and now it plays. Needs a shop job and some lights. Good deals are still out there pinheads. You just have to be patient.

    Quoted from Otaku:

Nice pickup. Hope you didn't purposely/unintentionally mess up somebody else's $400 deal though. Sounds like it, "if you can come tonight" usually only applies in an innocent regard when you're making a lower offer and the guy wants it gone quicker.

He was leaving town the next day in his motor home. That's what he told me anyway. The guy is 68.

The seller got the game as partial payment for some carpet work. He is a flooring guy.

He did have a game room with 2 pins. Both em games. The seller was very nice and easy to work with.

I believe the seller had no intention to have a silent auction. He had probably 40 calls by the time I got there. I believe that cash is the key. Everyone else seemed to want to use PayPal. That and the seller is 68 with a bad back. I explained that I could move the game myself and would not need him to help.
He even offered to give me the contact info of other callers that had offered more if I wanted to sell to them. The game is a grail game for my wife so I'm keeping it.

    Quoted from wayout440:

OK, I can understand 68 yrs old and wanting cash. As long as you were the first to offer cash, that's fine. 40 calls or so and none were cash offers for the advertised offer. OK, seems legit. My peeve is mostly sellers with no integrity who start a "sale process" for an advertised price and then turn around and sell it to the next guy who offers more. Imagine if you sat down at a restaurant and ordered dinner, and then later found out your dinner was sold to another table because they offered more. LOL.
Anyway, enough of my beef. I'm glad you got your wife a grail game, so often we all work so hard to find them.

Yup, I get it. We have all been snaked on games because someone offered more. Even after I talked to the guy, many offered more. But he stuck with our deal because I did not bs him. I was the 1st to offer cash and I told him I did not need any help moving the game. Also, I gave him info on the game and his other games. Again, I tried to be helpful to him, not just grab the game, throw money at him and run.
