After some years in this hobby I believe they don't even know themselves what the rules of a machine should be, they just make a basic ruleset, sell the machines and go from there. Everything after that is unknown. Nobody knows how long they will continue to support the game. Such a shame because there are so many titles that could benefit from some better code already out there.
Stern is a manufacturer. They make their money selling hardware. Software support is just overhead it seems.

LYMAN always takes awhile for code, but trust me it is worth the wait just look at his games like Metallica, TWD, or AcDc which all were just ok out the gate and now are killer games. If you own one of those I'm sure someday you will want a batman 66. Regarding code development, Lyman's creative process appears to be similar to that of a sculptor, chipping away at a marble block diligently and purposefully until the image reveals itself.
From a creative perspective, Lyman reminds me of Michelangelo, and two of Michelangeo's famous quotes speak to this concept:
