Beautiful! Hope this was catch and release

Nice!

You should have seen the snapping turtle they pulled out of our swampy little pond lake when they drained it a few years ago.

It was like an urban legend becoming reality.

His name is "Bob".

Yes sir. It is illegal to keep Goliath grouper. I don’t keep grouper anyway. They are to cute to eat. It would be like eating someone’s cat Before we left I latched onto one that was probably 200 pounds but it got away.

That is a huge turtle. What did you do with Bob

I didn't catch him, but Bob was an urban legend that used to snap the bait and hook and even fish right off your line going way back decades.

He became reality when they did a long needed draining and overhaul of Laguna Lake in 2004. Bob died several years later after being relocated to an undisclosed location. Every time I see a story about a monster fish, I can't help but remembering the true legend of Bob.

Poor Bob. I’ll bet he was 200 years old

I'm just glad he never snapped at my leg when we used to fish in that murky pond wearing cheap Big 5 waders.

We got these things in the south. Played with them when I was a kid.

In the Cairns aquarium Queensland Australia the grouper called Chang is depressed because of no visitors, so the school children have been writing to him

Funny story- I got to know a local grouper while scuba diving in Cozumel, Mexico. This grouper was ginormous-like 5' long. It was very curious and would follow us on all of our dives on a particular reef. His giant eye would watch us as he followed from the side. Really cool friendly creatures.

They are some kind of fish, in the way they follow you, or it seems they want to play.
I had one like this in the Red Sea. Stayed within a foot of us for a few hours.

Groupers are so strong for their size. Used to do trips for them and AJ's in the gulf. What a workout.

Tremendously fun to catch but I want them back in the water and unharmed asap. A Goliath Grouper is to cool of a fish to eat.
