Just got mine today,
Its showing version 4.00

Anyone know the differences between the versions?

#6 10 years ago

I have version 4.00, what are the changes?

#7 10 years ago

I searched on the internet and found nothing stating the changes, I just wondered if anyone here knew,

Looks like it will cost $10 for the rom from Marco to find out lol
I'll order it along with the new rubbers,

While were on Goldeneye,
Whos got some nice apron cards for it uploaded I can print?
The stock white ones are a little boring

#8 10 years ago

Well I ordered the new rom, It came with display ROM 4.0 which I believe I already have,
Both for $15 from thatpinballplace.com

I'll see if I notice any difference when they arrive,

#9 10 years ago

In the future... if you want only the CPU, I'll gladly just sell you 1 chip - just e-mail me through my site or PM me here. E-mail through the site is probably better.

Thanks John,

Didn't know I could just buy one

Don't suppose you know whats different do you? and the sound roms stayed the same as far as I know too right?

#11 10 years ago

usually the only difference in ROMs within a version number is related to coinage. That is if you have version 4.01 but the newest is 4.04, the changes are very minor (like added coinage for the Netherlands.) Of course that's a 'usually' type thing....

I think I might know a difference,
Magnetic ball save after a direct hit on the green guard targets in front of the ramps and after a direct hit on the center "eject" switch,

When I was reading the game rules online I seen that this was a feature,
Well mine doesn't do this, So I'm wondering, (and hoping) thats a feature in games with newer roms,

Anyone with a newer rom care to confirm you have this feature?

Hmmm, that sounds possible, I will check mine - often the ball is saved by the magnet for "no apparent reason" so I'll have to pay attention!!!

I wish it had a light or a sound or something to let you know the ball save was active,

I wonder if I wired a light to the magnet when its energized and put somewhere in the playfield like behind the left target bank that would work

#15 10 years ago

Hmmm, dunno - good thought! Put a spotlight above one of the ramps with a red LED on it - that'll get your attention.....

#16 10 years ago

I'm sure that's easily done,

My new ROM's arrive tomorrow I think, Or Friday so I'll see if this mentioned magnasave feature is in them,
If they are then I'll tinker with some sort of warning light letting the player know the magnet is on

Got my Roms today,

Can't seems to notice a single difference

That happens sometimes. Minor revision # changes are often very minor. Sometimes, they're fixing something in part of the ROM you'd never see, adding or changing a coin operation feature, fixing a spelling mistake, etc.
