Goldeneye DMD goes dead

Hey there,

Got a Sega Goldeneye and the DMD is just dropping dead a few minutes into the game. Was able to give the back box a love tap and it would flicker back but that no longer works. Is it overheating? Recommend replacing the DMD altogether or could it be something else?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would start off testing the voltage on the DMD connector. -112v, -100v, 12v, 5v and 62v. Needs all the voltages within a certain tolerance to work. Also reseat all the ribbon cable connections.

Replace the connectors and reflow the pins. The 5V in particular has been an issue on a few DE games I've worked on.

Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Also reseat all the ribbon cable connections.

This first and foremost, if that doesn't work proceed to other solutions. I would go ahead and re-seat every connection on the dmd power supply board, not just the ribbon cables, can't hurt. If it was responding to a smack to the back box, sounds like it could be just a loose connection.
