I noticed that there isn’t a club for gold wings… yet. I know this machine gets a lot of crap but if you give this game a real chance then it’s a great game. In this club we will share about why we like this machine, what we have done to make it great and tips on how to repair….

Here are some pictures of my gold wings…

I’m starting to really like Gottlieb machines. How would you rank Gold Wings against Deadly Weapon, Black Hole, Rock, and Robo-War?

#5 2 years ago

Love my gold wings. Unique layout.

Quoted from DanMarino:

I’d take a nice Gold Wings or nice Robo-War today!
Personally I think GW is more fun

Nice! GW is way under rated. Its a fun fast game. Pesonally, I LOOOOVE that siren!

Yeah! I think the siren adds to the game and makes it more fun. Also if you get that loop shot dialed in it can be a pretty nice shot…

So what are everyone's favorite things about their Gold Wings? I have yet to play the machine, but it looks pretty fun. I like the unusual layout and flipper arrangement. The music sounds pretty fun too. I need to watch more videos to understand how multi-ball is achieved.

I love maxing out the multiplier
building the loop up to 200,000
Then starting a multiball, every shot is 16X scoring and when you hit the air craft carrier with that much of a multiplier the siren roars for like 3 minutes lol
So amazing, one shot worth 8,000,000 points if you can pull it off

Yeah that multiball with max multiplier is really overpowered but fun. If you can hit the 500,000 shot while in multiball that’s a lot of points. Also hitting the loop in multiball gets you a lot of points.

I swear there was one on ebay for like 3 years, I just went to get the link and its gone

Try emailing PBR, steve has a few things for gold wings that arent on his site.

#22 2 years ago

Its ok...probably the least played game in my line up. Definitely the least played gottlieb in my line up.

I would rather have a TX sector, or operation thunder.

Wow! Super cool looking. Is your game huo, mines been in the family for 20 years, the guy who owned it before was my grandpas friend who bought it new.

#26 2 years ago

Not HUO when I bought it, it was beat up pretty bad. I did a super deep shop on it and touched up the playfield. I’ve been contemplating tearing it down again and doing some more with it.

Anyone know where I could get mods?

I dont think there are a ton of mods for this game. I would look for an F-14 thats the right scale to put some where. Maybe right after the ramp entrance?

I think I saw some one do el wire on the ramp as well. You can also do all pink/purple rubbers.

We just finished a Gottlieb Gold Wings for the VFW pinball museum. We were bored and transformed the topper, in light of a strip club at the Detroit metro airport...

Can someone tell me what you need to do during gameplay to open the right gate that lets your ball go back to the shooter? I can’t seem to figure it out..

Quoted from yonizzell:

It doesn't include that feature, its only there to make sure the ball doesn't go back to the shooter lane. its just springs controlling no mechs. it would be cool if it did that though.

Correct. Its spring loaded. If you could go in there it would be super ez to get the 500k shot lol.

You should call or email marcos and ask if they have dimensions or if they can give you the supplier. It might even be Steve at PBR that made these for Marcos.

If anyone had still has the #Gold Wings backbox lock and latching mechanism intact, that can post a picture? Not only am I missing the lock itself but I don't see any latch plate or mechanism inside the backbox that it would even operate, if the lock wasn't missing.

Thanks in advance

If anyone wants to make stand up decals print this at 100% scale (not fit to page) on photo paper. Make sure to change the printer settings to "Photo Paper"

Before you cut them out put mylar on the face, then double sided decal adhesives on the back. After they're cut out then use a single hole hole-punch for the center, make sure the actual punch is pushing from back to front for a clean cut.

I really want to get this game, but the Translite issue has me really frustrated. The jet in the Stock translite is an AirForce F-15 Eagle, but the game is centered around the Navy's F-14Tomcat. And all the alternate versions of the translite I find still use the F-15 Eagle. Why is it so hard to get this right??? Gold Wings are Naval Aviator wings. The F-14 Tomcat is the iconic Navy Fighter which was also known in Top Gun. How can people keep messing it up by using an Air Force F-15?!?!?!? Ugghh....I hate seeing the improper comingling of branches and aircraft on this game.

Anybody have any eyes on an actual alternate backglass or translite that uses the GoldWings name but has an F-14??

So this game doesn't hit the infamous "Pinside Top 100" because it needs 9 more reviews.
Come on fellow collectors/enthusiasts throw a rating up so it shows up!
