I am seeking assistance with an issue I am experiencing with my Gold Strike. The machine works 100% but there is a jumper cable that is connected to the power lugs on the credit hold relay to the tilt hold relay. When I remove the jumper cable, the machine goes into tilt mode. When the jumper is connected the machine will never go into tilt. The tilt relay does nothing at all when manually engaged/not engaged. I have checked the jones plugs and I am not seeing any broken wires.

Please let me know what your thoughts are, as I could just leave the jumper cable in place but I would prefer to get this thing working properly without it. If anyone is willing to walk me through this I would appreciate it so much. Thank you I’m advance for any help!

The Y/Credit Hold relay is only used if you have the game set for 1 coin/2 plays. It remembers that you have a credit while you're playing the first coin after a coin drop. The light in the bottom arch shows you whether you have a credit waiting or not. If your game is set for free play it might not work this way any more.

The H/Tilt Hold relay should activate during reset and stay active until the game tilts and the T/Tilt relay fires. If your H relay isn't activating there's something wrong with its circuit. Do you have the schematic?

Remove that jumper, and if the Tilt Hold relay (H) doesn't stay activated when you manually activate it,
Inspect and diagnose this circuit with Alligator clip jumper wires

hey there, thank you for the info. I’m just getting back into fixing this machine. the T relay is not engaged and I can’t get the tilt hold relay to engage at all. when I start a game the credit hold relay is always engaged and I don’t believe it should be. the only way I can start a game without it going into tilt is when the jumper is attached from the credit hold coil to the tilt hold relay coil. I have checked the tilts and none of them are engaged.

Quoted from HowardR:

I wanted to follow up with this thread as I am still trying to get to the bottom of this issue.

The T relay is normally closed and clean. One thing to note is that I did do a continuity check on the T coil and the meter is not sounding which leads me to believe there may be an issue with the coil. With that being said, the T relay switch doesn’t affect the game at all in any scenario that I can force. the T relay essentially does nothing at all and the machine can never go into tilt via any of the three tilt mechanisms. With the jumper cable attached from the credit hold relay to the tilt hold relay, even if the tilt relay is open the machine will start up a game without going into tilt. I can’t tilt the machine at all, unless said jumper wire is not connected.
