Quoted from Rizmo:JJP will pull a Toy Story and only use Godfather part 3
Not if the plunger has anything to do with it
Lol, someone photoshop some pinballs in place of the horses head in the bed?
Balls get locked under the sheets, and when multiball starts the sheets pull back, showing pinballs and old mate screaming... oh god I would lose my shit
Quoted from gandamack:Anyhow.....I hope that the soundtrack is not the official Godfather soundtrack...I may fall asleep while playing.
Better than crying over the one in the promo vid.... worst thing I have heard
Quoted from delt31:Catching up on all of this finally......
The art and aesthetics on this game is like it was directed by someone in the mid west who thinks Olive Garden is good italian. What in the world did they do to this franchise? The New Yorker in me is having a hard time comprehending.
I knew when I saw the twitter pic of the side rail including the movie quote - the marketing team clearly has no idea why this movie is good. If the poor decision was made to include that in the game, you certainly wouldn't highlight it as your introduction to the public. And now I see this over the top, tacky as hell CE package that would even make the jersey housewives blush. Wow. Complete miss. If i had to pick, LE for sure but even that. Red over the top.
Looking past the complete over use of certain colors (red especially - gold too and that's saying something), I just can't believe what certain people are accepting as a 15k game these days. Maybe it's b/c I remember how it was just a couple of years ago but what in the world are we even gloating about here? A custom cartoonish sculp that looks out of place? A random sculp of the godfather that literally is out of place? Is it the diverters that enable us to have more shots? A diverter is now a significant mech?
I look at this game and it's like JJP saw how all the mod makers out there were making money and said we can do that too. That will be our innovation. Horse head shooter - check! Lermods wants to sell a translite backlight - well we'll just do it ourselves! Pop bumpers seem to get modded - look at the guy in the UK with godzilla! Let's mod our pop bumper. And the list goes on and on. Problem is - where are the custom mechs? Pirates upper that moves? Ship that shoots? House that spins? Castle gates that open? Crystal ball that shows you information? These are mechs. They use to be attached to 7k-10k games. Now they're gone but we're left with a 12-15k price tag?
Will the game shoot well? Sure. Is this game even close to old school JJP? Nope. And that's where I'm just so disappointed. And then I see some folks run at the CE and say they got one? Are you guys crazy? 1000 of these at 15k+ and JJP site is still not even sold out! Don't believe the distros who are nervous as hell - they'll say only one left and then suckers fall for it. You'll have podcasters then defend it - I even heard one recently say props to stern for updating the code on Bond. Props to stern? wtf? They take 13k from people but don't worry - we'll get that code right guys!
I was spot on with toy story - watched suckers jump in and get burned. Although this game isn't nearly as bad as that one, it's not even close to 15k. But we'll go through the buy buy buy hype and if you just retain some common sense for the next few weeks, save money down the road.
coming from someone who rated Met at 9.1.... right
Quoted from Daditude:Ok...here's my two cents:
Pros:
-The artwork looks incredible
-The leg casts are truly impressive and innovative
-The lighting looks phenomenal
-The topper and interactive knocker are just way too cool
-Game rights sound like they did it justice
-The theme is just amazing
-The music seems to be top notch
-There are tons of shots
-Plenty of toys/mechs/gimmicks
Cons (possible):
-The price/value is prohibitive for many
-I am leery of the playfield quality
-The sound package seems to be amazing...but we haven't really heard the variety (does it have enough)?
-The cartoonish nature of the sculpts vs the artwork could be a turnoff for some
-Is the code fully ready, or are there glitches
Final thoughts:
A lot remains to be seen. It is early, but this game certainly has potential to be an all-time great. I would definitely hold for more info and gameplay prior to purchasing. At 15k, I would expect full code, no PF issues, and a seamless experience...and after that...it would still be tough to plunk down that kind of green.
All in all, I hope to play it soon to see for myself. My best shot will likely be TPF since there is almost 0 chance an op is putting this on location.
Cons:
Slash soundtrack... why screw it up and not have the original?
Quoted from playtwowin:That is great that slash contributed to this game. Love the fact that someone as recognizable as him is helping the pinball industry. However, I think it would be nice to have options to switch between both his and the original version of the song. This would be very easy for JJP to do, and I think purists would be happy as well.
Yeah sounds good!!! Just have the option.
Putting it out there... They screwed it bad with the code...100x for one shot? 3 billion as per Karls stream... FFS
Quoted from screaminr:Well... it was a lot of shots to get to that , but they have gone from one extreme to another .
too extreme so much so that if you miss back to grinding sub 1 mill skill shots.....oh what fun... or if you get it what else means anything? except the next one
Quoted from Pinbolls:I would like to point out, Karl didn't collect a single 100x shot during the stream. Even if he was able to collect it, most of us won't have to worry about ever collecting that shot. I don't think it ruins the game at all, because I'll likely never collect a 100x shot. If I do, even then it wouldn't ruin the game, I would be pumped.
God that makes it even worse... guess your a fan of Star Wars then.... excessive multipliers screw games imo
Quoted from screaminr:Isn't that the case for alot of games that incorporate stacking and multipliers .
No 2x on GZ is far less extreme.. as is 2x on JP and other games....
Having a game go from 187 million to 3.2 billion in 1 shot... well
Quoted from Audioenslaved:That’s not good but you’ve got to get there to make it happen. And I’m sure in a tournament that isn’t really a viable strategy
But even playing personally for score.... u miss then whats the point in playing on....
Quoted from sevenrites:We’ve now crossed another threshold. From JJP games suck because you can’t score high enough points to oh no, if you pull off a crazy sequence and happen to make the final shot you might actually get too many points - and now that apparently also sucks.
I don’t see the issue with the possibility of big points. It might happen as often as reaching a wizard mode. Karl didn’t even hit it.
Yep your right.... Monster games that finish with 10 million are rubbish along with 3 billion point shots.... Just following in Sterns footsteps... minus Dwight and Lonnie
Quoted from ATLpb:Best not to make sweeping assessments based on something literally only a handful of people in the world are capable of. The multipliers are great. The risk reward and intensity of “ok go time on my multipliers” is an awesome layer for those interested.
I kinda get the feeling that they are a cover for the lack of innovative code that can be thought up.... twd 2x fine, gz, jp, 2x fine, maiden 3x fine. ghostbusters 6x, sw 20-40x screws the game.. but mehhh thats my opinion.
Its like well I can still get a great score without 2-3x but 6-100x... cant be done... or just restart the game as start again.
Quoted from PinMonk:95% (99%?) of players won't be able to do what he did. He makes scores like that look easy, but it most definitely is not.
even more of a reason not to have them for the 1% that it helps... if thats the case
Quoted from PinMonk:If 95-99% don't have the skills to even know the strategies are there, let alone pull them off, what does it matter? For me, I consider that aspirational. If I can chain together A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H and hit the shot at the end in time, I can get a crazy bonus, too.
Will I? Unlikely, but it's something to shoot for.
Lol thats like saying why have wizard modes in JP and GZ for example given that 90% will never see them..... When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, King of the Monsters, 2112, Run to the Hills... Pinmonk, your first name aint Lonnie is it?
I know what your getting at but something tells me those multipliers are going to play more of a part in the game than Karls stream lets on. Maybe along the lines of GB...
I guess the same could be said for Karls stream where he gets over 40 billion on Rush? Mehhh
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:Nice gameplay (and overall game afterwards) video of a CE:
hmmm whats that annoying knocking??
Quoted from screaminr:When I get my game you're welcome to come over and check it out .
lol nice one... is it a substitute for gun fire?? Is that the topper?
