Hopefully they will add more clips .

pinball_keefer you need to add the clip
" what's the matter with you , I think your brain is going soft . "
Use it for a ball drain or missing a jackpot or something , you've got the rights to both of the actors .

Apologies for miss reading your post .
I'm watching the movie right now and I get what you're saying but I can see why they went in the direction they did .
Hopefully they will add more clips .

They went the direction they did and will do. Get an A+ license and build a game around the license name, but with few assets.

It is fun to flip though!

You have to keep in mind they could only get so many of the actors , that's why there's no Fredo , unlike The Hobbit where they got everyone .

That's my point they get an A list property knowing that they probably aren't gonna get these big named actors or if they do they're gonna small amount of assets just slightly tied a name of Godfather, they don't have to spend too much money on assets.

I get what you're saying but they do have the stars of the movie .
A movie like the Hobbit naturally has good modes and progression , The Godfather not so much .
So they went with , getting influence , gaining territories , taking out mob bosses , to make it a fun GAME .
I don't think they were trying to save money , I think they tried to get everything they could .
If they were trying to save money , I don't think they would have tried so hard and persisted for so long to get Al Pacino .

#3810 1 year ago

Maybe should have just left everything out that was not related to the movie? Including JJP employees.

POTC has basically zero assets. No clips of people. Just rain on flatware, a ship in the distance, etc. Nothing more than Gibbs to do the callouts.

But it allowed 100-plus modes. Not just 8. And its a masterpiece.

Quoted from NickBuffaloPinball:

The game, to make it work in pinball, exists in the "Godfather universe". Admittedly, the tone is lighter in the pinball than the movie.

From the streams I've watched, I think there is some disconnect between the lighter tone and the violent images from the movie.
Mixing genres is difficult to get right, even when you plan to do it from the start.
Looking forward to playing the game and seeing what it's like in person.

Nice gameplay (and overall game afterwards) video of a CE:

I quite like what I see in this video (which by the way thanks for posting this video Tuna_Delight )... I like all the videos I've seen so far, and I do like the music a lot! the only thing I would possibly prefer differently is the guy raising his hands to bust it with fists, personally I prefer to see probably a gangster on the screen with a thompson in that scene of the game...

Also I’m glad that I’m hearing all possible voices and images from important characters, for instance Luca Brasi it's a character that needed to be present in the game, so that’s amazing to have him here

... regarding complaints from the bad guy (those who call him cartoonish) I'm sure there will be quite well-made mods for those who want to change it. Honestly in my particular case I'm very satisfied with the design that I'll have in my Collector's, I’m 100% satisfied with the expression, the scars, the hat and the suit…

I can't wait for this game to be in my hands, seriously I’m very happy with this title

Quoted from deejaypee:

Some of you know me as the sucker who made hot rail-synched cabinet lights for GNR. I own that machine and what started out as a passion project, I ended up making a handful of them for other GNR owners. A couple of people have asked me about making them for The Godfather but don’t have their machines yet, and if I were to take on the project, I’d want to verify a few things under the playfield and get a tester or two. If such a thing is of interest to you, and you have your LE (CEs already have their own cabinet lights), send me a PM! Heck, if you just have interest in them for your future machine send me a PM so I can figure out if a run would be worth it.
Here’s the lights in action on a GNR if you’re not even sure what I’m talking about. They add a whole new level of spectacle to an already spectacle-driven game
https://bit.ly/3InSybq

Having bought a set for my GnR and I can say they are an awesome addition to the experience! Plus deejaypee really cares about what he makes. Love to support a good guy in the hobby!

Question , why wasn't Fredo at his dad's funeral

#3821 1 year ago
Quoted from Dan1733:

it allowed 100-plus modes. Not just 8

That’s what is irritating me. My pb alien also has (only) 8 basic modes overall it’s sufficient code but not deep rules the Alien code just hasn’t deep rules.Read the rules in the tiltforum and from that regardless of possibly being incomplete can’t detect deep POC/Wonka style Keefer rules. Don’t want to continue life in anxiety (ordered also to finally get deep code redemption) until my game arrives somewhere in June so would be very happy if someone could confirm deep complex rules regardless of only 8 modes.

#3822 1 year ago
Quoted from screaminr:

Question , why wasn't Fredo at his dad's funeral

He was sent to Las Vegas.

So either Moe Green kept him there so he wouldn't interfere with Barzini's plan to kill Michael, and Fredo being weak Moe Green knew he wouldn't interfere with his deal to sell Barzini the casino and he could keep his hotel, or kill him the same time Barzini would have had Michael killed.

Or - Michael wanted him in Las Vegas setting up politicians and police, etc. for when they took over Moe Green's casino. And Michael knew he was weak and did nothing when Don Vito was shot. Fredo being weak fumbled the gun and sat and cried. Michael knew the traitor would approach him at the funeral and he didn't want to take the chance of Fredo being there and causing a scene and miss the chance to out the traitor.

I played the game today at Silverball in NJ. It was fun but very hard and fast. Can someone please explain how the gangster guy interacts with the game? He seemed to just randomly shoot when the ball is not even close to him and when I hit him nothing really happened. I actually ordered a CE before even playing which was a first for me just not 100% sure that was the right move. Thanks in advance.

#3826 1 year ago

Not sure about the gangster question. It took me a day or two to start figuring the rules out. Once I did, the game became much more enjoyable. This is a pin you need to spend a little time with to really enjoy. I was also going to get a CE, but I'm impatient and decided on an LE, because I didn't want to wait on the CE.

The shooting isn't tied to you hitting, AFAIK. I think it's just to let you know he's active and you need to take him out. On the screen in the middle it will have the picture of the caporegime he stands for that you're trying to take out, as well as how many hits before you finish him off. Think Medieval Madness castle. I think you can get multiple hits by moving the wheel left/right when the ball is in there and it's allowed, but honestly that feature is the weakest in the game because it doesn't really do much that's satisfying with the ball.

If you look below the target that guards the entrance there are the 5 family icons, with smaller heads at the corners of each one. I *think* those heads represent the caporegimes for each family and they light up as you finish them off. What family your fighting when the ball goes in is dictated by the family icon lit when the ball goes in there. You can move the lit icon with your flippers before the shot in. I've been to baptism a few times now, so I think I'm starting to get a handle on this, but any of the above may be wrong once I play more and understand more.

I have a life size gangster (Al Capone) waiting to be positioned next to the CE when it arrives in June. The throne awaits...

This is basically my experience also. My only add would be that there's the health meter on the left of the apron that gives you the status of the bad guy so you don't have to look up. I agree that it's a weak point that you can't spin the disc every shot and that it seems a little random with the flipper controls when you can.

For anyone on the fence about this game, just jump over. It’s crazy good. I almost passed on it. I’ve been through a lot of games and this one is on another level.

The sounds are good. The music is good. The callouts are totally fine. The gameplay and rules are great.

Some people are so damn picky. This game is stupid good. The flippers feel awesome too.

#3831 1 year ago

Yeah every time I play TGF, I see/learn something new. It is pretty easy game to keep hitting start on. Obviously, enjoyment comes from reaching achievements and the first few game you earn nothing so the game isn’t fun. But get into the rules a bit and watch/listen to lcd prompts and you’ll be flying before you know it.

I am really looking forward to the deep ruleset. I have played hundreds of pins but I have really only fully learned the ruleset of the ones I've owned in my home (which are KISS, DM and TAF). Modern JJP machines just seem to be on a whole different level. I couldn't imaging trying to learn a game this deep on location. JJP = perfect home pins?

Been playing my game the last three days and I'm ready to make the early call that this is JJP's best game to date.

First, I really think they turned a corner in terms of the weak flipper issue that plagued previous games. Flippers feel perfect.

The shots themselves just flow so nicely. While they look tight, they are super findable. The diverters add in a way I wouldn't have thought possible, and which I appreciate more and more. This is one of the best designed layouts I've played.

Fast and smooth is the perfect description.

Lighting.... chef's kiss.

Still figuring out rules, but it's coming together. I love the risk/reward of cashing things out, along with multipliers. This checks so many boxes for me.

The music is solid, voices are fine. All in all, I think the sound package is good, better than I first thought.

Biggest issue I've ran into was my game crashing. But that will be fixed (hopefully really soon).

I honestly haven't been this excited about a pinball machine in a long time.

#3834 1 year ago

I am quite excited also.. especially since I have not played it yet. Still waiting for the call to pay the balance.

So is production qty generally considered the metric for deciding best game, officially?

Question Do you think there’s any truth to JJP possibly releasing a flipper board to update past games like GnR and Wonka?

Someone at the show put it out there saying they had insider info.
It is good to hear that folks are loving the new setup.
Oh wait now I remember it was a statement that Kenada put out there.lol

Seems like lose/lose for JJP. It will be like WoZ light boards, except less necessary. WoZ light boards you HAD to update because the 1.x design was defective. The new JJP driver board is just an improvement, but not required. So making it available to BUY will just piss off a segment of their market.

I don't understand your question.

#3845 1 year ago
Quoted from NickBuffaloPinball:

My crash happened during a multiball.

So did his. Another one tonight. It has something to do with a mode starting during a Super Skill Shot that doesn't finish, so two modes end up running later in the game and then the game doesn't know what to do and it reboots.

I don't understand your question.

Meaning what makes a game "the best" officially? It's not someone's opinion, obviously, so it's sales right?

Is Adams family the best pin ever? What pin has the most production/sales?

That said, gf being the " best JJP game" would need to surpass all past sales/production numbers of the other JJP titles to get the honor of that title?
.

It's all subjective .
There's a difference between popular and the best .
Is the Toyota Corolla the best car ever made , not by a Longshot .

I think he was stating his opinion. Pinside is like that, stating an opinion like a fact. That said, I trust in nick, dude has good taste in pins and isn’t fooled by ‘the popular vote’ pins.
