Quoted from frankmac:

Amazing what a 1 minute over the shoulder phone vid can do.

Similar to what a promo reel can do, it seems!

Quoted from ramegoom:

This phone will sit right next to my CE when it arrives. Who recognizes the number?
[quoted image]

Well, it's not Jenny's.

Quoted from iceman44:

I could have sworn that’s the cat from the FOO cartoons and also hidden in the Pf art?

With FF, vivid bright colors fit the theme, GF not so much. Also, did you see the flow on FF? Up there with GZ, IMDN, etc. GF will look better with monochromatic side bar colors, red, blue, etc, easy to code for different moods. For atmosphere, Alien is a great example that hits all the right notes with music and lighting. David Thiel however.

Quoted from Sako-TRG:

Watched GF loads of times but trying to think who this dude is?[quoted image]

I think that's supposed to be Bobby DeNiro as young Vito Corleone.

Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:

Yeah, Stern’s “pockmarked teenager” over “ribbed condom” playfields are much better. Especially with the ghosting inserts and double register and out of focus art printing. But I hardly notice that anymore, because I’m too busy reinforcing my cabinet corners so they don’t separate and warp the table. Or because I’m reapplying decals that are peeling away from the cabinet and head before I can even get the game out of the box. At least the box is a lot lighter these days. Because there’s a less substantial game inside. Levi’s right about that! The game is often even lighter, because one or more Spike boards may be on their way back to Stern at any given time.

Awesome! Damn man.

I have an Alien. I agree with that.

I don’t care about “flow” for the sake of “flow”. Have plenty of those games. Did you see the “flow” and shots w/diverters on GF?

FF and bright colors. Ok. I have a cartoon AS already with great Dirty Donnie art. I think the LE looks great but the pro/premium art is skittles bad

There will be different lighting for different modes just like TWD and Alien

Good thing we have choices

UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!!!
This has never happened in the history of Pinside
Except dozens of times whenever a new game is revealed.

What pretend car will he pretend buy this time instead of going through with his CE pretend order?

I don’t think he ever wore a hat like that in the movie.

I honestly have no clue who that is and I’ve seen both those movies half dozen times or so.

The guy on that sling looks like a hasid or Amish guy.

Let’s get down to the bottom of this!

I’m leaning toward “random hood.”

Quoted from Cobray:

I'll help JJP, they can send the free game for my services later :
Background music should be the theme song from the movies. Seriously. Spice it up with some Axl playing it on guitar when things get exciting. Hell, if you're dead set on flute music, play the theme song on flute!
Replace the Ching/chang sounds with "switch hit confirmation sounds". If you need to know what this means, play some of the non jjp games and listen to the "satisfying" sound of a target getting hit. We don't need to feel like we're in a casino or Chuck E Cheese watching our kid play for tickets.
Callouts should be cuts from the movie, not the janitor you pulled into a sound room and told him to read from a phrase card real quick while you recorded it. If licensing got in the way, get a sound-alike.
Tone down the rainbow colors... more Red, white. Save the skittles show for attract or special occasions like multi ball. And yes, multi ball should be a special occasion lol.

You just hit the nail on the head. I hope Eric and Keith are reading this. .

#2016 1 year ago
Quoted from Noma2017:

Nice try. White wood and layout was complete with release of GNR which was in 2020. You are basically saying that when Godzilla was released in 2021, Eric scrapped or heavily modified his game to ripoff Godzilla.

The Elwin and Stern acolytes will stop at nothing, including shilling for Bond 60th.

Also, I hope people realize that playing a wonderfully theme integrated game where you “don’t play the movie” is exactly what you get with Wonka. And TS4 is same from what I gather. It strikes me that JJP is hands down the best in the biz at theme integration and licensing, when it comes to securing tons of IP assets and how best to use them.

Godfather looks terrific and I look forward to playing one!

#2017 1 year ago

Lots missing here, Eric mentions that Slash played "Speak Softly, Love", as well as Tremonti and Sinatras band being involved with the music (including a full orchestra that they hired).

Eric also mentions that they acquired licensing for Brando and most of the Godfather assets in the featurette.

We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg here..

Huh?

#2019 1 year ago

As an admirer of both classic flute and woodwind instruments such as the oboe, I find the music quite melodic and mesmerizing.

#2020 1 year ago

I’ve had a few distributors reach out to me asking if I want a CE (same thing happened with Bond). Nice to not have to rush on such a huge purchase. Game looks cool so far and I’m in the minority of people who like TS4, I’m looking forward to playing this on location but have bought way too many games lately to bring this home for now.

Indeed looks like Robert DeNiro … but he never had a Thompson machine gun in his hands in part II (or I don’t remember that) I just remember the revolver Webley .455 when he killed Don Fanucci

It’s not deniro. It’s not
Duvall. If it were it would
Probably look like either of those guys. And it does not resemble either in the slightest.

Neither of them ever held a tommy gun in the saga or wore an Amish hat.

I’m going with random goon. Odd choice for a sling plastic.

Quoted from JStoltz:

Hot take: Not to take anything away from his accomplishments or to suggest he's not a great dude, but I'm not a huge fan of listening to Eric being his own hype guy in these featurettes...felt the same way after watching the GNR featurette. Idk if it's the jokey smugness or the pat-self-on-back vibe that it gives off, but I just find myself wanting for more humility or something.
That said, it does look like a pretty sweet machine and I'm glad the team is so proud of it!

So what is it? Pride or jokey smugness? One’s ok but not the other? It’s freaking pinball. Eric should have humility for what? Designing a killer pinball machine with one of the most iconic themes and licenses ever? And having a shit load of fun with his buddies like, oh say, SLASH that seemingly insisted on participating in the making of the game?

You’d prefer a true hype man? A paid actor or shill that has nothing invested except to get you to buy the game (these days Gary Stern comes to mind lol). You must have really hated the Jack Danger stream of Bond 60th, with George Gomez getting wasted so he could feel more comfortable sharing hard truths about a game he clearly has misgivings about. And KME himself of course, PLAYING his own game and talking it up. The nerve!

Your take isn’t hot, just bad.

#2025 1 year ago
Quoted from reffob:

For those without Facebook I uploaded it to YouTube. All credit goes to Mike GAP Once he puts it on YouTube I'll take mine down.

While everyone is focused on the rainbow brite colors, I’m finding the music & sound to be off. You have this very subdued Tommy Gun while some Willy-wonka-ish music is playing. Just sounds off and doesn’t flow with the action. Where’s the nuanced changes when action takes place instead of this depressing mix. Maybe it needs some Louis Prima or more upbeat when action changes. They got Slash to play so they’re not sticking faithfully to the soundtrack. That’s my opinion

#2027 1 year ago

Personally, I wish the rollout promo videos were done in a similar fashion to the pharmaceutical drug tv ads. They should all be in slow motion and tell you how life changing their pinball machine is and then be required to tell you all the negatives the particular machine will inflict upon the player/owner.

Couple movie pics with him in a hat.

If you look at the sling plastic, it looks like he has a very faint mustache too. You guys see that, or is that just me? Cause Vito has the stache.

It's definitely not Robert Duvall and I doubt they'd put a random unknown guy on such a prominent spot on the game. That has to be DeNiro.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not...but just to clear things up:

Vito Corleone is a fictional character in Mario Puzo's 1969 novel The Godfather and in the first two of Francis Ford Coppola's film trilogy. Vito is originally portrayed by Marlon Brando in the 1972 film The Godfather, and later by Oreste Baldini as a boy and by Robert De Niro as a young man in The Godfather Part II.

The game isn't just about Godfather Pt I

Great.

But none of that bullshit is gonna make that random guy on a sling plastic who does not at all resemble Rob Deniro become Rob Deniro.

It just doesn't work that way.

(And is this game Godfather II also? Cause I didn't see anything Godfather II on the artwork. Besides random sling guy who is apparently young vito and also Tom Hagen with a Tommy Gun. I didn't notice any Godfather II exclusive characters on the artwork anywhere)

The way it comes off in the video there are assets from all 3 movies? Could be wrong though.

Just seems odd that the artwork would be devoid of any Godfather II exclusive characters/actors, except for one sling plastic of a horribly drawn Bob Deniro with a tommy gun which never happened in any of the movies.

But I think I've whined about this one enough. Let the speculation continue!

I think maybe it's Abe Vigoda.

So it took twice as long as Toy Story CE and you can’t give that game away. Let’s continue creating fake fomo for another JJP game.

It’s 15k and they made a thousand. There will be no issue getting one and spoiler alert - you’ll get it lower than msrp + tax ; )

I had two distributors contact me already on this game looking to unload. Don’t fall for it guys. If you just don’t care about losing money like some people here - sure! Go for it. But don’t feel pressured to buy now due to fake fomo.

Last thing I wanted to see in that video was stacking two multi balls….

I'm 100% with you there. That's the only thing holding me back at this point because everything else about the game I love. It's gorgeous! Unfortunately, I've got a GnR LE sitting next to my bar, and it's a drunken sailor of multiballs. So, I'm going to have to wait on this one to make sure my sneaky suspicions aren't true.

You’re right, Eric mentions in that YouTube Pinball Feature scenes of Part II… the Senator hearing, Michael bedroom getting shot, and also this scene below is when Michael reunites with Hyman Roth at the end of the year.

You’re putting quite a few words in my mouth here… I posted that “I” didn’t care for the way Eric comes off in the featurette (this one and GNR). Didn’t say anything after the GNR featurette came out, but when I got the same vibe this time I thought I’d mention it. I tried to be as respectful as I could while still sharing the thought, since I don’t make a habit of being a contrarian. Sorry if it was interpreted that way.

A handful of folks agreed with me, a handful didn’t, and that’s ok.
