I used to be a pin addict, but these kind of moves have all but cured me.

I was wavering whether to get a GnR.

But thanks to JJP, cured again!

    Quoted from jokerpoker:

    1) Because they can.
    2) Because demand is high.
3] Because it’s hard making Pinball!
    4) Or they are just greedy bastards? You choose.

Stern and JJP must have lost a ton of potential sales to Europe this year with the extra 25% tax.

Wonder how this has impacted on both of them?

How can the 'unlimited' SE be 'sold out'??

    http://store.jerseyjackpinball.com/Games/Guns-N-Roses/Guns-N-Roses-Standard-Edition-Pinball-Machine.html

    Not even taking back orders?

    Margin been squeezed too much?

You can reserve an LE though!

Hope they have not abandoned the SE version.

    Check out German prices.

    $15000 for LZ LE.

$15000 for GnR LE ( add another $1000 today ).

They really can't be selling many, can they?

    https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/

So, rate is roughly 1.4% at the moment.

Compare that to 10.5% on GnR LE

    Quoted from Anubis330:

I've been in the hobby for a few years now and watched prices climb consistently. At what price point do people start to walk away from the hobby??? $9,500? 10,500? 12,000??? I'm curious what everyone's ceiling is. What is the most you're willing to pay for a pin???

I can't justify spending these amounts of money anymore for a box of flashing lights and steel balls.

And they are just ONE game!

People moan about paying $60 for ONE computer game, and look what pinheads spend!

It's beyond crazy when you think about it.

All to get the next fix.

None of the latest games have got any real innovation since the 90's, apart from improved lighting, deeper code and LCD's.

No great toys that interact with the ball in clever, innovative ways!

Makes me laugh depending which thread you are in, that if you criticise JJP or Stern, some people react like you are attacking their children!

    It's JUST a pinball machine

    It's an oxymoron

    Quoted from Dr-pin:

If you have development cost X.
If you make few units, that has to carry development cost, you have to have a higher part of the price beeing development.
If you make lots and lots of units, the development cost gets less for each unit.
It´s really strange having to explain this on a forum, where people can afford to buy toys for 10k$.
I think it just shows, you can make lots of money, without knowing anything about production.

Basically they are too slow at making games.

Shame, as it would be good if they got 2 games out every year.

Pinball is in a lockdown hotspot right now as a lot of bored people at home.

Demand will soften once everything can do stuff again!

    Quoted from woody76:

and up about 50% over 6 months.
the lumber package for my new house was $55k 9 months ago. If I bought it today it would be $100k. Inflation is really bad and you are right, NO ONE is really talking about it. Kind of scary.

It is strange, as 'experts' are not predicting that inflation is going to be an issue at all in 2021.

    Quoted from jhoward1082:

I think a better comparison is stock R&M at $7000 + shipping vs a Stern Pro at ~$5800 with free shipping

So you can almost get 2 NIB Stern Pros for one GnR LE.

    Interesting comparison.

Games have got silly expensive, but I sure would like a GnR CE

    Quoted from jfh:

Batman and Robin (Adam West and Burt Ward) did. With one exception the other major actors were dead at the time which would have made custom call outs difficult. But Stern had the use of audio and video from every episode (with only a few scenes excepted).
I understand what Slash did with GnR and it’s impressive. But BM66 still wins the “best use of licensed assets” for a pinball in the LCD era.

R&M gotta be in the frame as well.
