TAF Spotlights (resized).jpg

Hello! I just installed a light kit on my Addams Family, and the spotlights are causing a glare on the backboard on the H and G in THING. I have seen antiglare for DMDs but that doesn't reach all the way down to THING. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can safely put on the back so the letters can be seen? Thank you!

Glare Guards - https://www.cometpinball.com/products/dmd-glare-eliminators stops glare in both directions.

That looks like glare on the speaker panel, a glare guard will not help. What I do is aim the spots down and in, then use a little black electrical tape to hood the bulb. Worked great on my BSD with the same issue of the light on the speaker panel not the actual ColorDMD.

My solution is to remove the spotlights. There’s really no other way.

Same goes with trough led lighting strips. Any “solution” that is worse than the “problem” that doesn’t really exist needs to go.

I just went through this on a last action hero.

I have stacked two bent plastics on top of each other to make it twice as long and attached them with Velcro.

Yeah, the picture doesn't do it justice. It really isn't *that* blue when looking in person.

Great Idea! I will try that and see how it works.

While I generally agree that lots of pins doesn't need any additional lights (pinstadiums yuck!) but as a fellow TAF owner I will agree that specific game is so darn dark it does need a few extra spotlights or it's hard to even see the ball.

I aim my spots slightly downward at the playfield and never pointing them up toward the backbox and that's enough.

The closer to the flippers the harder it is to hide.

Spotlights living toward the top of the playfield are easier to deal with without obnoxious glare.

Thanks everyone for the tips! I added little strips of black electrical tape above 3 spot lights and tipped them even further down. On some I had to angle the tape, but you can't really see it when playing. Seems to be a good solution!

Jury is still out on the blue LEDs in the back. I covered up several to make it less bright, but still looks super blue on the camera, though not as much in person. Thought about white, but my husband thinks the color adds some atmosphere to the game. Maybe a different color would work better, like a light purple?

White would look best.

Addams doesn't have spotlights. Remove the spotlights, blue LEDs and replace with white. You'll thank me.
