Yes it was his announcement and a real running man unit. Or running zombies in this version.
They both have unique and pretty neat callouts. They said there would be more work done to the sound.
Quoted from musketd:The zombie one by a mile not even close
I agree, but only because I already have a traditional pitch n bat
Quoted from Foo:Everyone should have a p&b in their lineup.
Does Midway's Flash Baseball or Chicago Coin's Mini Baseball count?
Quoted from Flato:I'm not familiar with pitch and bats little info anyone? Thanks
Pretty straight forward - Pinball's fed to a single flipper'bat' and you try and hit homeruns, etc. to get your guy around the bases to score

They're usually the most popular game in your collection when you have friends over due to the head to head action. They're fun as hell with two people playing, one player games are boring.
Looks cool, other than some of those pictures are very blurry on their website.
They need to work on their presentation a bit more.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:Hopefully this will make slug fests come down in price finally....
down from $1300 for a nice one?
Boards alone are worth a decent amount.

I keep hearing about these <$1000 slug fests being had and I can never find one!

I love the parts & technology gallery page.

I sold my very nice, fully shopped, all new almost everything, nvram installed, LED, etc... for 1350 and it took a week to sell.
Had working card dispenser and catcher, but no topper.
They are pretty much everywhere with a little looking.
I would not expect them to go much lower since they can be parted out for 1k with ease.
Quoted from Pinballer22:Any video of these in action?
I've seen a few phone videos in various TPF threads - but not much. At least one showed the runner mech in operation. But I don't have any helpful links or anything
Edit: After looking around and not finding them here, I guess the video may have been on Facebook. So I'll never find it again. Because; Facebook.

Quoted from flashinstinct:Is it just me or $4800 seems way up there?
Agreed, and will probably get crucified for this but...
No DMD? No fourth pitch? No ability to steal bases? No card dispenser?
And they want ~$3500 more than a Slugfest for it?
I'm all for the "what's old is new again" bit, but come on now! If Apple were to release a flip phone tomorrow with a gray alphanumeric screen, would people really pay more than an iPhone to get one?
Quoted from spfxted:If this is available at Allentown, I may be taking one home!
are you actually going to get a second game Ted? I think this is 4 games in the past 4 days you are going to buy...
Finally got the bug for more than 1? about time brother!
My brother has a good working one right here in north central WI with topper and card dispenser for $1100 and every time I bring it up to one of the head banging, wish I could have found that deal guys they refuse to drive up and get it. You could take it home today. Start driving in an hour and when he gets off work we will load it on your truck. It's nice, it's complete and it works. Minimal cab fade last time I saw it.
I played these new games in Texas and they are cool as hell. The artwork is even better in person and quality looks to be exceptional. To those who don't like the price, try and start a company to build these for less.
I only have room for 7 so I gotta be careful....
Well, and juke box, scale, phone booth, slots, etc....

I kind of think their angle is "look at the cool quirky mechanical baseball players, that's so much cooler than a dmd".

Not impressed with Slugfest. No mechanical runners.
DMD is 1991 tech....not missed.
It's a niche market, but this could do well.
whats funny is i didnt hear the announcement at TPF of it cause I was busy in the tournament. When I walked passed these, my buddies just assumed it was a re-theme of a pitch and bat. we didnt stop and play either of them or take a 2nd look.
Crazy to think it doesnt have a redemption angle since that is probably the market it would do well in
I played both quite a bit at TPF and had a great time. Yes, it's a pitch and bat. Boring as hell if it's the only game you've got but in a larger lineup or if you have kids, it's a fun game. I plan on getting one for when the grandkids come over and partly because I'm a huge baseball fan along with the rest of the family.
I talked with Tom Taylor quite a bit. Tom is kind of the spokesman for the group. He talked about the trial and error they went through to get the game to where it is. Backglass was originally screened on lexan but they didn't like the look so it's now on glass. It looked really, really nice. The playfield artwork is reverse printed on lexan so you'll never get wear. They may also change some of the background artwork on the traditional model along with a couple other minor things.
Kerry Imming did the board development and programming. They had some minor bugs to work out, like sacrifices not always advancing the runner and I think he also said they were going to add more call outs. They were also thinking about adding a bell that would go off whenever a runner scored.
The price also wasn't set in stone. Tom said it could vary maybe $200 more or less depending on final BOM.
I thought both games were beautiful and for anything under $5000, I'm in. $4500 may sound like a lot (I don't think so) but most any game you make in small numbers like this, can't be done for much less.
I would think it would be cool to offer a third artwork option to change the traditional style cabinet artwork to one that is regular baseball but modern. Anyone agree?

They are definitely going to have redemption, that is a big part of their focus from the presentation.
It'd be awesome if they could do a deal like Chexx and make the game with the pro teams of your choice. Yankees vs. Red Sox, Dodgers vs. Giants, that sort of thing.
I love pitch and bats. One dimensional, but a blast to play.
