The Seeds (much cooler than the Beatles during this era, and probably more likely to piss off the parents too )

Good one! Great example of distilling the Prog Rock bag of tricks into a great Pop tune, an approach that obviously payed off in a big way for them in the 80s.

Made me think of “Kayleigh” by Marillion (one of very few true Prog bands in the 80s):
