Quoted from Gryszzz:

I live out in the country so naturally, I fucking despite rednecks.

I grew up in a trailer surrounded by rednecks in southern Virginia and hated country music. Still do. However, Johnny Cash is still Johnny Cash.

All that being said, if things work out over the next week I will be moving to my perfect mix of wooded country and suburban life and will fulfill one of my greatest dreams. Fingers crossed.

Quoted from Brazy:

Not recommended for the faint of heart or those who can't laugh at over the top stuff.. but I've seen him about 10 yrs ago and he says he doesn't care who you are or what you are that he's all good with everyone now.

We were driving past a little bar about 25 years ago, in the middle of nowhere and the sign out front said "David Allen Coe tonight".

I thought there is no way in hell that DAC is playing here???.

No cover when we walked in, but I found DAC sitting at the bar.

I asked if he was playing anything off the "undergound" album.

He laughed, and said "No. I mean you can probably go to jail for playing those songs nowadays!"

Since DAC has spent more of his life behind bars than on the outside, I believed him.

He played a good set, and seemed like a totally nice guy in person.

Some Girls by the Stones. ALthough I could probably be talked into almost any Stones album.

#108 6 years ago

From Sinatra to Basie to Quincy Jones all signs point to perfect.

Audioslave's Audislave. Still the best concert I have ever been to when I saw them at the 9:30 Club right when they came out in 2004. Paid an obscene amount to scalp tickets, and worth every penny. They played their set and then had 3(!) encores:

1st: Chris Cornell sang Black Hole Sun a copella with no accompaniment.
2nd: They played four or five Soundgarden songs. Remember Spoonman, Fell on Black Days, etc.
They waited a few minutes and then came out for
3rd: Killing in the Name of, Guerrilla Radio, Bulls On Parade, Sleep Down in the Fire, etc.

It was about the friendliest 2,000 person riot I had ever been part of.

Wow. Saw Soundgarden at (maybe 2?) Lollopalooza's but regretfully never up close like that. Sweet.

Snoopdog - Doggystyle

That's a masterpiece album, but probably 25% of it is just crap.

Sounds of taking a bath, fake radio DJs and talking.

I've got many of the tracks on that album blocked so they don't play on random in my jukebox - because they are not songs, lol.

I saw Soundgarden open for Danzig back in the day.

Talk about a perfect show.....

It was a a helluva show. What could have been. RIP Chris Cornell.

Am digging the Prophets of Rage album that dropped on Friday. You have the core of Rage, Chuck D and DJ Lord of PE, and B-Real of Cypress Hill. Little rough around the edges, very political, but a strong outing.

Not only is it perfect with no filler, it's a DOUBLE album of perfection with no filler and absolutely timeless. I still listen to it at least once a month and have since its release in 1980.

Brain Salad Surgery- Emerson, Lake and Palmer

A masterful album cover and a masterpiece of music from the first song to the last.

The Replacements - Let It Be

About 2.6 times as good as the Beatles album of the same name.

Probably no album out of the mid 80s has aged better.

It's important to play the songs in order, I'm not sure why, but it works better.

Good call. This is another that I listen to so much my poor wife thinks I'm putting it on again just to mess with her. Great sequencing and you're right it hasn't aged a bit.

I VEHEMENTLY disagree with a lot of his anthropological views, but the guy does know how to write a good tune. That album he did with Pantera (for example) is a southern metal all you can eat buffet

Masterpiece concept album, Abigail by King Diamond. Hopefully you were lucky enough to catch him on tour a year or two ago when he did the entire thing beginning to end like I was.
