Quoted from Apex:For me U2, The Joshua Tree. It's got classics and the great deep cuts. But like all things your milage may vary
I would add "Achtung Baby" to U2's list - my favorite of theirs.
If you happen to be into Christian Rock, DC Talk "Jesus Freak" & Whiteheart "Freedom" are my favorite two of the genre.
Going way back to this one.
The Afghan Whigs practically invented the Mobster Soul genre, and Black Love was the pinnacle of their craft.
Dark, driven, smoky and sometimes moments away from flying apart, theses are all great songs for a night of drinking.
Got you where I want you motherfncker
I got five up on your dime
And if you wanna peep on something
Peep what I got stuck between
Your eyes
And since I don't believe
A word you say
Save it for another, baby brother
Swallow time to pay
Up on the ladder they sing
How high?
Does a brother have to climb
to touch the light
But wait 'till I get done
With you
If you tell me
"Don't get mixed up with the Devil"
That's exactly
What I'm gonna do
Caught you while you waited
For your boy to come
And fix you up again
Come a little closer, baby
I only wanna try to
Be your friend
Since I ain't got nothing
Left to lose
Got you where I want you
Motherfucker
Don't you try to move
Up on the ladder they sing
How high?
Does a brother have to climb
to touch the light
Won't u take me up there
With you?
You said you would
No one ever could shake
That ladder like I could
So I wait
Saw the Lords Of Acid on tour with Combichrist and Christian Death tonite.
The Lords have a few really great discs, but the two perfect ones are Our Little Secret and Voodo-U.
You have probably heard all of these songs at the better quality strip-bars.

LOA - Rubberdoll
You want sex with a rubber doll?
Baby, I don't agree with that at all!
Sex Bomb Annie, that's her name
With her you like to play your dirty little games
Her mouth wide open, always ready for more
Doesn't close her legs, that inflatable whore!
It's a love bazaar with a rubber bitch
Don't make me compete with that plastic witch!
Death to the Doll! (x2)
You can never use me for your fantasy
Manage' trois with my enemy!
You better take her with you one Thanksgiving Day
So she can meet your folk in her negligée
You take her out to dinner so your friends can see
Now everybody's pointing fingers at me!
You even take her shopping, and on a double-date
She's always quiet, and she never complains!
Death to the Doll! (x2)
I've made up my mind: it's gotta stop!
A stab of a needle's gonna make her go POP!
That'll be the end of your love affair
With Sex Bomb Annie and her plastic derrière
Death to the Doll! (x2)
The Replacements Tim

Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy

If you like melodical punk pop with a generous serving of existential crises, Nada Surf is for you. Their fifth album, Lucky, is their most consistent release and probably their high point. The Proximity Effect is actually my favorite but it has a couple songs that are embarrassingly bad.
Quoted from vid1900:Saw the Lords Of Acid on tour with Combichrist and Christian Death tonite.
How was the show?
Quoted from herbertbsharp:How was the show?
It was an amazing show. The bill made sense, with each band offering a different twist on the genre.
Christian Death - great guitar driven set. They played much more energetically than their studio tracks. For being among the first Goth bands (1979?), they sounded way fresh.
-
-
Combichrist - from their roots as a club-goth band, here they performed like a metal freight train. Norwegian frontman Andy LaPlegua whipped the audience into an all out frenzy, complete with mosh pit. Their drummer stole the show 1/2 the time with his antics; the guy was a machine.
They were so high-energy that my niece asked "What if Combichrisht is better than LOA???".

Lords Of Acid - They now have 2 lead singers, DJ Mia of course, and now another chick that is more of a falsetto. Together they recreate the harmonies that were probably just samples when performed live in the past. The harmonies on "Crablouse" were to die for.
They have a new album coming out in a few months, but they did not play any new material. It was a 'greatest hits' set, with a couple of deep cuts like "Mr Machoman".
They must have brought their own subwoofers on tour with them, because the bass was deeper than the venue could have possibly provided itself.
LOA - Scrood Bi U
I just don't know what to do
I got my boyfriend but I want you too
Don't wanna hear about fidelity
When I need a feeling deep in me
I wanna be screwed by you
But anyone else will do
I wanna be screwed by you and you...
I feel it now, all through the day
I have to try it in every way
Yes I'll have it long and tough
I don't mind if it's hard and rough
I wanna be screwed by you
But anyone else will do
I wanna be screwed by you and you...
I just don't know what to do
I can't help it, just need to screw
Doing it makes me blow my top
Once I start I can never stop
I wanna be screwed by you
But anyone else will do
I wanna be screwed by you and you...
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:Whiteheart "Freedom" are my favorite two of the genre.
My brother loved that album, I was more partial to the one directly after it - Powerhouse. Still never seen anyone bowl like that though.
But my pick for perfect CCM album would be Amy Grant's Lead Me On.
Quoted from Electrocute:One of my favorites from post college days.
Alongside DRI, NWA, and And Justice for All this was my freshman year of high school listening. Literally. Had a Walkman on my lap at all times. Only the Home Ec teacher made me take my headphones off ha.
Electric Ladyland is the third and final studio album by English-American rock band the Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in October 1968 by Track Records/Polydor, and Reprise Records in North America. The double album was the only record from the band produced by Jimi Hendrix. By mid-November, it had charted at number one in the United States, where it spent two weeks at the top spot. Electric Ladyland was the Experience's most commercially successful release and their only number one album. It peaked at number six in the UK, where it spent 12 weeks on the chart.
Electric Ladyland included a cover of the Bob Dylan song, "All Along the Watchtower", which became the Experience's highest-selling single and their only top 40 hit in the US, peaking at number 20; the single reached number five in the UK. Although the album confounded critics in 1968, it has since been viewed as Hendrix's best work and one of the greatest rock records of all time. Electric Ladyland has been featured on many greatest-album lists, including Q magazine's 2003 list of the 100 greatest albums and Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, on which it was ranked 54th
I have a charcoal rubbing framed from when I visited Jimi Hedrix's grave stone .
Quoted from Electrocute:One of my favorites from post college days.
I like my Ian a bit more “Southern...”
Quoted from Azmodeus:I would also include type o negative bloody kisses
Excellent album, start to finish
I am going to derail this thread for just one post you people need to see this (5) year old young girl .
I was training on Pikes Peak today a local 14,000ft mountain in Colorado. Listening to metal rock group "System of a Down"- Toxicity. When I got home I wanted to check them out live on YOUTUBE when I came across this (5 year old ) girl playing the (Drum cover) to Toxicity . She winks and smiles a few times at the camera during this incredibly hard solo . She is so cute and a total( rhythmic music prodigy). You have to watch her in video at least till the 2:48 mark Eduarda brings it The musical choice for a five year old is not the norm. But this young girls Soul Shines Brightly!!
That video always puts a smile on my face. I also get a kick out of watching the kids from Aaron O'Keefe's school.
Jethro Tull, 'Thick as a Brick.'
Really don't mind if you sit this one out
My word's but a whisper your deafness a SHOUT
I may make you feel but I can't make you think
Your sperm's in the gutter your love's in the sink
So you ride yourselves over the fields
And you make all your animal deals
And your wise men don't know how it feels
To be thick as a brick
Fates Warning - Theories of Flight
Hands down, the best album I've purchased in recent years. This album kicks ass.
I saw them live recently and they were awesome!
For Hard Rock and Metal fans -- this album is a must have...
Another one of my favorites... I first saw these guys in 1992, opening up for Metallica and Guns n Roses both in their prime... but it was the music of Body Count that I remembered most that the night. Their raw freshman effort has remained in my perpetual play list ever since.

Their latest album "Bloodlust" is even *better* than their first album. They phoned in the last couple, but this one is ALL IN. There's a song called "Why We Ride" that IMO should get a grammy. The whole record is awesome. Also check out "Ski Mask Way" and their cover of Raining Blood (I am not kidding)
Quoted from Electrocute:One of my favorites from post college days.
Excellent choice. We had this CD on all the time - great songwriting and production. Too bad they never even came close to this again.
Ceremony sucked.
On our wedding day my wife walked up the aisle to 'Here Comes My Girl'. We had this album on last night also, seriously bummed out by the news.
As an infant, my parents played his Music over and over to put my to sleep.
It was my start as a Roy Orbison fan, until I discovered Elvis in the late 60s.
What comes as full circle, is Roy visited my house at my Birthday Party in 64 or 65.
Today, my daughter listens all day, as she is recently employed by Roy Orbison Jr!
The Wildhearts - Earth vs The Wildhearts from1993.
Seriously, if you like gritty, hard-rocking rifftastic melody it’s perfect from start to finish.
I’ll throw in Queen’s Sheer Heart Attack too.
Quoted from tamoore:It is perfect, and it seems right to repost today....
I remember buying this album as a ten year old back in 1979 with my chore money. Still flawless. Horrible news.
Derek and the Dominoes - Layla and Assorted Love Songs
George Harrison - Al Things Must Pass
Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign
Albert King - Live Wire/Blues Power
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood
Eagles - Hotel California
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Not sure anyone has mentioned this, but Avalon, the forst solo album by Godsmack front man Sully Erna is one of the best albums I have ever heard. He has an outstanding voice in my opinion.
Who would have the audacity to name their first album after Roxy Music's best album???
"It better be godamn good........" says The Lady of the Lake.
And another.

To each there own. This to me is the perfect song

Their first was raw, and their best. 2nd pretty good too, 3rd more hair metal style, but still great all the way through!
Hardcore Superstar - C'mon Take on Me
http://rockville.pl/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Hardcore-Superstar-Cmon-Take-On-Me.jpg
Found a random video of an earlier release of them, and found all their releases were great.....looking forward to their new single in a week.
Quoted from Baiter:This album spent a lot of years in my rotation:
Oh yes, that and the second one were panty droppers back in the day. Even if I hadn't liked them, I'd have had 'em playing!
Would it be too blue to make a list of albums that helped seal the deal? Y'know, like Peter Gabriel's Passion or maybe Moby's Play for the younger guys...
