Quick GI voltage question. Picked up a Stern/Whitestar game recently and all the incandescent GI was out. It hasn't been shopped in years, so it's possible they just went out over time on their own, but it seemed weird they were all out. Swapped in a known working bulb, came right on fine. Literally every GI bulb is burned out. I checked the fuses, they're fine.

So I checked the voltage on the sockets. They all read 6.17VAC . I have access to the same game elsewhere, so I checked that game and all the GI is 5.71VAC.

I would think 6.17 is within the variance for the bulbs, but figured I would ask just in case. Getting mixed answers from fellow pinheads I know.

    Quoted from DudeRegular:

As far as I know those should be 6.3VAC so you would be right in range. If you put in all new bulbs and check on in circuit you might see a bit of a drop once they are all replaced.

True, once they're all replaced and running, I would think it would drop some. I figured it was all good, but worth checking. A friend said something a related bridge rectifier can be bad or going, causing a potential blowout on the bulb end.

Easy test I guess... I have hundreds of old bulbs like most of us, so I'll just put a bunch in and let it sit a while to see if anything happens.

    Thanks!

So far so good on bulbs. I have a bunch in, it's been hanging out in attract, no issues. I haven't re-measured voltages yet.

    Valid points Thermionic. Hmmm.
