Hi guys, picked up a Who Dunnit last week, one string of the GI is blowing a fuse after the game is on about 30 seconds or so, not right away and not during gameplay. There were a couple poorly repaired connectors that I fixed, hoped that was it but apparently not.
I haven't repinned the board, could some cold/cracked solder joints cause this?
I kinda ruled out a short under the playfield since it's not happening immediately, or during gameplay from vibration.
Any ideas??

Thanks Don

Probably a short under the pf. Easy way to figure out is remove the GI connector going to the pf. If it blows again, board issue. If it doesn't, it's on the pf. Next step if it isn't on the pf is remove all the bulbs/ leds from that strand. Put bulbs in one at a time until it blows. I would look for some wire strands from a busted bulb or something similar inside the sockets that is barely touching the middle spring in the socket and the sides. Every time I have had this issue, it's always been that.

Follow up- removed the connector, fuse didn't blow so I popped the hood and removed all the sockets on that string. A couple were REALLY close to some other components and a couple had the tabs bent way over, I think they were touching the center part. Ultimately I think that was the problem. Turned on game, fuse didn't blow, replaced bulbs one by one and fuse hasnt blown. All is good!

Thank you again!

It's a problem game. You need to sell it to me, Don.

Love incandescents but don't care for the short life, heat, and power draw. I suppose they work well in a collector environment that only sees a few hours a week of use.
