Quoted from John_I:

Condescending much?

How so...I didn't take it that way. I think what he is saying is the JJP with WOZ and now TH will attract new people into the Hobby with its more modern take on pinball. I love the older Stern style as well as the JJP approach. Win Win in my book.

My family played lots of woz and hobbit and liked TH more. I can get either but not both and we decided on hobbit. Others feel the opposite, all good.

Edit: only played a couple of hours on each on separate days, so not a ton of time to be sure.

Quoted from merccat:

However, we had another game to consider, a game I really enjoy every time with a theme that my wife absolutely is in love with... so we didn't get either, we got a WOZ.

Certainly a good pick too

Quoted from kpg:

Goes to show how different our opinions are. I had a WOZ for a while and I just never got attached to it. When I played TH for the first time, I thought it was 100X better then WOZ. But that's what's great about pinball, there's something for everyone.

Same here (but I never owned a WOZ)...but if he likes WOZ better awesome

Quoted from Pimp77:

Good games last 15-20 mins, bad games can be over in less than a minute.

True, my 12 year old son loves playing the hobbit - but his games are really quick as well. He'll learn - or perhaps he'll just be cursed and be like his dad.

15-20 minute game times - I wish.

Quoted from SilverBallz:

I thought "built like a tank" implied it didn't break down. I guess it just means it's heavy.

It means both, but it certainly doesn't mean it doesn't break down ever. It means that it was built with quality components. By the way tanks do break down from time to time, and we certainly get your point.

Quoted from PanzerFreak:

I just hope its something crazy cool like Bag End with a motorized door that opens revealing an LCD behind it that can show all kinds of stuff. Now I'll pay $500 for that, lol.

Not sure we need another LED screen ...

Quoted from Drenden:

Ok. XMen aux boards, tron spinner motors, etc etc. plenty of examples.
EDIT: insert ghosting!!

Don't bring TRON into this

#1268 7 years ago
Quoted from Drenden:

I went through 4 spinner motors in 3 months

Okay fine, allowed

GB runs circles around The Hobbit in regards to fun...

I was listening closely to what you were saying, and then you say this

#1329 7 years ago

I don't know...mature movies are fun....

I give the edge to the hobbit also. I have played GB several times and I like it very much. Nice art, cool play field and gameplay. But it is brutal with the drains for sure. Overall it is a solid contribution from stern. That said TH is the better game to me.

Quoted from Concretehardt:

Is it just me or does the left ramp and right ramp feel like the exact same shot?

Not as much as you might think...

but I with they were farther apart - and the left angled so that the top right flipper would be the best for shooting it.

GB isn't that bad, I enjoy playing it. But hobbit is a better game - honestly the modes, music, sound, and journey is much more satisfying to play

But Smaug isn’t a bash toy...

But I get your point about the bank right infront of Smaug to give it that feel.
