Quoted from Leechman:Am I the only one that actually liked the Hobbit movies here?
If you took the best parts of all 3 movies and combined it into one 3 hour movie, I'd think it was great. I found it hard not to compare (unfavorably) to LOTR which is maybe my favorite trilogy ever.
Quoted from Pinhead1982:I am in on Smaug LE & GBLE.
The hype for hobbit has all but gone. JJP have taken too long long to release it.
GB looks great, the playfield is PACKED with cool looking stuff and it's a great theme. The rules look good on the Pro. Although not sure about all these SUPERJACKPOTS it dishes out.
That can easily be changed in code thankfully. I'm hoping that lesser awards are jackpots or something else. Getting 8 super jackpots in a row kind of removes the meaning of the word.
I don't get the hate for big ol' displays with a crapload of information. I want all 4 player's scores at all times, I want to see my progress in each mode (going into status report to look up my MB progress is my least favorite thing about AC/DC!), I want big flashy graphics and a map through the game.
Wizard of Oz's display tells you a ton about what's going on. Even if you can't look at it when playing, it's 100x better than tabbing through Instant Info menus. The flashy graphics are just a bonus. If Stern's LCDs convey a DMD amount of information but have live action clips instead of crappy red video clips it's not like that makes the games any worse, but it would be a bit of a miss for me after all the LCD hype.
So I vote WOZ. Wait what's this thread about again, are we talking about GB and TH, not LCDs? 2 games with launch or pre-launch code that many people aren't very familiar with? Great, I vote GB with no basis for my opinion.
Quoted from Jvspin:Are you kidding? Anyone who prefers full color high resolution images over red dots is no fan of real pinball.
Retro Pinball's King of Diamonds is the closest thing we've had to a real pinball lately, but the score reels are motorized rather than driven by solenoids so it's a piece of garbage too.
Did they take out the overbearing PLING PLING PLING sound from the slingshots a couple years ago? That would be a huge code upgrade IMO.
Quoted from Pimp77:Pathetic. If I were Robin I'd not count obvious troll ratings like this. No game deserves a 1...even EMs!
I'm not well versed in all of the EM world, but I have played a Bally El Toro which is steaming pile of garbage with nothing to redeem it, and that was a game from a major manufacturer right after Fireball. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some obscure EMs that deserved a 1.0 out there.
Quoted from VegasAlleycat:Keep in mind that the average score of a Top 100 pin is around 8.25. It takes about 3 bogus 10's to skew the average rating the same as a single bogus 3. So the haters have a much bigger influence than the fanboys...
And if we flag all the 1s and 10s as bogus like we're supposed to we get a more realistic average! 1s and 10s should be silently filtered out as bogus by default, or maybe an option to exclude them in calculation?
There's no point in an average if everyone takes a look at the average then either gives the game a super high or super low score to try to skew it to what they think it should be. Just rate games as you think they are...
I finally got to play Ghostbusters Pro and I'll just add fuel to the fire that it's better than Hobbit in layout and all around fun factor right now. It wasn't a life changing experience or anything like playing WOZ for the first time after understanding the game, but it seems like a solid game.
