I have a project where I may use a Ghostbuster's sling magnet. Most magnets on pinball machines have a CNC cutout that the magnet/core sit in so that they are closer to the playfield surface. A picture of the underside of a GBLE appears to show that the sling magnet and core may rest flush with the underside surface with no CNC cutouts in the playfield wood. Can anyone confirm that is the case?

I can open the game tomorrow but there is no through hole cut for the magnet. However I thought in early pics they routed a few layers deep in the plywood some circles the magnets rest in.

I need to know what they did on a production game. I have a special project I'm working out and I need to know if the magnet would work sufficiently well without the CNC cutouts (removal of wood layers) that is done on all of the other play fields I've seen. If you could look at yours when you have a chance, I would really appreciate it. If it worked on GB then I'm going to buy parts and construct a similar setup using GB magnet parts.

Thank you! That was very helpful. That will help me with my project.

Thank you for taking the time. Just when I think Pinside has gone a little whacko, someone does something very nice and helpful!
