Admittedly I never notice that area on my games anymore, but 3D plug covers are a neat idea in general.
My suggestion (as you're asking for feedback) would be to make the slime slightly thinner and look as though it's pouring out of the start button hole. A motionless splat on a machine looks a bit odd to me (gives me time to question why it looks so stiff), but if I saw what looked like slime billowing out of the start button, my mind would wander toward picturing the pin cab filled with slime, thus leading to a sense of motion with the slime pouring out of the cab (distracting some attention from the piece itself for a moment). I could just be weird
