I'm not sure this logic is true. I doubt they had to write much if any new code to implement the normal slings on the pro. Most of that code would have already been done for other SPIKE games like GOT or KISS.

Modes are sorted into ladders. There's a total of 3 ladders in the game containing 2, 3 and 4 modes respectively. You can work on any ladder during the game but you do need to clear the bottom tears in a ladder before you can move up. You don't need to complete a ladder before beginning another so you can jump back and forth. The big complaint seems to be it's a hard game so you see the lower tears way more often than the higher.
