Quoted from dnaman:

I would love to know how this turns out! It everything is functional then maybe we can come up with different ideas for an interactive topper. Not necessarily the same style at all we can light up other things.

OMG that would be all kinds of awesome. If we get that node board running it would be easy (and fun) to rig the Playmobil Ecto-1 for instance!!

Quoted from javagrind888:

Does anyone have Pinstadium Fusions installed on this game? I'm wondering if they would even fit with the firehouse. I like the extra lighting, but wonder if the extra flashers do anything for this title. If so, a video would be appreciated.

I have no problems with my pinstadium fitting.

I think they are saying the pin standium and firestation MOD clash where the regular firestation without the mod is ok

#9704 2 years ago

Somebody could make some good money if they would make a look-alike GB topper. I'd pay too much for one...

Which GI socket did you tie into for Ecto one on ball shooter lane?

Finally broke down…little do the wife and kids know they are gifting me a ColorDMD LCD at Christmas for my GB! THANK YOU SANTA!

But man, did these prices jump since they were first released for GB, or is my memory a little discombobulated…

Haha - that’s my plan too! As soon as I sell my LOTR, I’m buying 3 ColorDMDs: GB, TAF and Slugfest. Gonna be a good Christmas!

They have gone up a tad. They used to be $400.

Never worked with EL wire. Any tutorials for the thick/thin wires on the proton streams.

#9710 2 years ago

Is it just me or does there seem to be a renewed interest in Ghostbusters Pinball? It seems like more and more people are looking for one and the prices seem outrageous. My LE is bolted to the ground.

The new movie is going to come out in November, there’s a lot of mystery and chatter going on since it has been announced years ago

I just picked up an LE and bolted it down. I have to contact the county assessor because this must have surely increased the value of our home

Just for fun commentary, i was sitting here wondering why anyone hasn't considered designing/ offering a Ecto 1 aftermarket topper. The stern topper has very basic integration. Seems like if you can integrate animitronic baby yoda, this shouldn’t be too bad... no? It’s beyond my capabilities, but this community has a bunch of people who could pull it off for sure. I would think demand for an aftermarket Ecto topper would be plenty even if it was pricey.

-Lot of meat left on the bone...?

#9715 2 years ago

Maybe people are starting to realize how packed this is for a Stern, has some “neat” features, is a popular theme that actually has a lot of assets from the IP, and is pretty close to being one of the last complete packages from Stern.

*Notes from a biased owner

For me, it was bolted to the ground before it arrived. GB was a dream theme, didn’t even know it existed til I saw it at an arcade and then immediately came back to this forum after a lengthy hiatus. My first and only NIB.

But yes I’m seeing the strong interest as well. Maybe since pinball interest all around is strong, it’s hard getting a new pin these days, and this one likely won’t be vaulted anytime soon, if at all.

Any ideas for a great topper other than the Stern one.

I believe, and don't hold me to this, swinks was going to work on a topper next after his proton beams project.

I'm a fan of Stern Trek but Ghostbusters makes it look positively barren in comparison. Combine that with so many movie assets and humorous call outs? Home run.

My node #9 went bad. I switched 8 for 9 to verify it was the board, and it was. Received my replacement and put it in slot 8. Everything works except the trough opto switches (NC13).

Anybody ever see anything like this?

Did you buzz out all the switches to rule them out?
Do you have the Spike manual? Have you ran through their service steps for Node testing? All LED's detected?

All LEDs are on and the node board boots. I preformed the node board test in test mode, but I will review again. Are there other steps to test a node board other than though the diagnostic menu?

I'll buzz out the switch's today. What is odd is that all of the trough switches are out, not just one.

It doesn't take much to ruin these cheap switches. Whatever killed your board may have killed all your switches as well.

The actual node board that went was 9.
I took 8 and put it into 9 to test the board, and 8 worked in 9.
Put the replacement in 8 which is where the trough switches feed into.

So it was a different node board location that went. I'm just learning about how node boards work (and don't work).

Thanks! I'll get back after I look at it again.

Dip switches?

#9729 2 years ago

Given my board experience with my faulty topper the dip switches may be it. Try to mimic the old board dip settings and see if that fixes things.

#9730 2 years ago

Thought I had them all correct, and testing shows that they are, but I'll look again.

#9731 2 years ago

When my Node 9 went out, I remember I had to ensure the dips were configured for this specific board number.

I hope it’s as easy as this.

#9732 2 years ago

Easy to misconfigure, or forget about the dip switches, especially when you've been swapping boards around. (yes I've done this)

Those GB topper prices are getting INSANE!!

Not worth the money. Limited interaction, so paying for a giant hunk of plastic, PASS!

#9736 2 years ago

I thought that fugly topper was overpriced at $500.

#9737 2 years ago

May be overpriced but if You have one I think it's very interactive. I enjoy My topper.

Funny, I hated them when I first got into pinball. Now I need them lol. Id love to have the GB topper but I would never pay the prices ive seen for them lately.. Even $500 from Stern was a ton...

Why exactly what I downvoted for this?

#9740 2 years ago

You know those power wheel mini cars kids drive?
I always thought the stern topper just looked like someone ripped a light bar off of one of those power wheel police cars or something and put it on top of the pin.

Thousands of dollars for something that costs like $60 in materials

I’m with you. I don’t care for toppers anyway but I think the GB topper is one of the worst. Sold my premium with topper and the guy instantly took it off and sold it for a ton.

#9742 2 years ago

That one on E-bay for $4500 sold for best offer???

This is just getting stupid!

Make sure the connector CN14 on Node8 that goes to the trough isn't offset 1 pin to the left or right.
They can actually be misaligned in this way.

Also make sure the cable loom going to CN14 isn't damaged.

Lastly swap node 8 & 9 back (making sure you reset the dip switches for each) and see if issue persists.

The firehouse ghostbusters deserves. Prototype is finished. Just need to work on the interior furniture now. Each level is lit and the roof hole is connected to the existing flasher so it flashes purple. The pinstadium lighting also runs properly above it and does not make contact with the roof. With the rest of the lit up buildings things should tie together nicely.
