I have the latest V1.17 SD Card from Stern in my G.B. Pro current download. Now, when 60 ghosts are captured and the Looping Series starts the timer (21 seconds) will not start running UNTIL I make at least one loop with a ball. If I don't make a loop the game will stay in the Looping Series mode until all the remaining balls in the game are used and game over. When I make at least one loop the timer starts and when the time runs out the game goes back into normal play.
I had an old version V 1.17 before I downloaded this current V1. 17 last month (April 2021). The Looping Timer always started once my shot ball reached the Stay Buff Marshmallow man switch (55 Right Orbit). Once the ball passes switch 55 the Looping Series music starts, but NO timer. The timer remained running for approximately 21 seconds and the game went back to normal game play after the timer reached zero. I had gone into “adj” and switched Looping Series to “OFF” and it made no difference. The game stilled went into Looping Series after the “OFF” was on.
The game played with the timer coming on as soon as the ball passed switch 55 for the first two years I have owned this game. It now seems to have changed after my last SD Card download.

That change to have the left ramp start Looping Supers came in in v1.16 - from the release notes:

- Collecting Ghost and starting Looping Supers, PKE Frenzy, and Mass Hysteria
have changed:
- Looping Supers will no longer stack with anything. All ghost
collection will stop until you play Looping Supers. Once completed
ghost collection will resume.
- Looping Supers will wait to run until you have nothing else
running. While paused the Looping Supers Light will pulse to
indicate its waiting to run.
- Added a Looping Supers ready state. When nothing else is
running the game will go into a state where the only thing
you can start is Looping Supers. Shoot the left ramp to start it.

Yeah it bugs me now that I noticed it..
I've decided I'm gonna put something there.. I put in a post for now and I pre-ordered this ghostbusters ghost figure.
I think having a ghost flying above the ramp would be cool and... well this guy's eyeball can be replaced with something else that's round and shiny.

Arrived and added! It’s a little bigger than I thought it would be but still managed to make him work off that weird phantom post area.

Anyone interested in a GP Pro PinCup, in like-new condition, hand painted by Modfather? I have mine on a Premium and it looks great. See pics. Unfortunately, I moved my game to a tight spot next to my stationary bike and need to free up some space.

Modfather sells these for $48 + tax and $9-$10 shipping. I’d sell it for $45 including domestic shipping, or $40 for local pickup.

Thank you for the information. My game has been playing for a year now with Looping Supers timer counting down as soon as I shot the ball at 60 ghosts and it cleared the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man. I liked it much better that way, it gives the wife and grand child a way to continue the game with out getting locked out if they can't made that first loop.

Maybe it is time for Stern to put out a new update with the timer starting as soon as the series starts.

It's from the vintage Ghostbusters toy line that was re-released.
I got it from Walmart for about $15 shipped. Here's the link if interested:

I have been enjoying learning all about this game. I have fixed several problems but need a little help with one. The leds aren’t working above slimer. When he comes out, he is just dark. Hits on him are registering fine. Anyone have problems with the lights on slimer before? This is a premium if it matters.

#9365 2 years ago

Added the 3d building and added one of the plastics to the back. Had to realign a bit due to my walking stay puft mod. But all fits now ok.

Love these, fit perfect. Blends in nice.

Thanks Sam.

Hi guys,

I hope someone here can help me. My Scoleri brothers drop target switches keep firing. I went into the switch test and both the left and right optos keep tripping every couple seconds. So I just replaced both opto sensors thinking those were the problem... But that didn't work. Is there a wire that is loose somewhere? Anyone else ever run into this?

#9369 2 years ago

I figured it out! I actually used the manual to find which node board the optos plug into. It's node board 9 and they plug into CN13 at the bottom of the board. Then I made sure all the wires that plug into that section were pushed in all the way. AND IT TOTALLY WORKED! Problem Solved!

I am a little bummed I bought opto boards for nothing. But problem solving on my own using the manual feels good. I feel like I leveled up with the pinball gods somewhere.

Anyway, thanks everyone for following me on this quick journey.

Cheers!
Shaun

Glad you figured it out. Yes reseating the molex connectors usually fixes the scoleri bros constantly firing off.

#9371 2 years ago

Guys I have a theory on shaker motors. Most of my stern issues are connectors coming loose and all my sterns have shakers. So I'm guessing the shaker loosens these, so during regular maintenance check all your connections under the playfield

Hey guys,

Just joined the club yesterday with this Pro. Its dusty, but will clean up real nice. These games are a beauty. On the pro model does the puft man do anything? I see wires running up to him but didn't see him move or anything. Just lights? Are there any mods to make him animated? That's a cool toy that could have done "more".

Cheers

Get the walking Stay Puff mod from Mezelmods. It's excellent!

https://mezelmods.com/products/ghostbusters-pinball-walking-stay-puft

Shoot! It's sold out. Maybe you can find a 2nd hand one.

#9374 2 years ago

FYI: don't buy the green slime balls from mezel.

They are larger diameter and get hung up on the rail. They are also kind of rubbery and you loose all the energy transfer. Total flop.

If you put a Shaker Motor in, that stock Stay Puft will shake around on its own...

Thanks for some of the input on the puft man. Any good tutorial videos you guys recommend. I've found the stern Rule sheet and will begin looking at it, but do you all have a favorite strategy for scoring?

Subway ramp, Library targets for playfield multiplier, repeat....for high scoring.

For fun, I just try and get as far as I can in the modes. I enjoy the music from the movie (using the Mudflaps version on my machine), so just making it far enough into Spook Central to hear the chorus of Savin' the Day is enough for me.

They work fine. I bet you tightened down the plastic above it too tight. Leave one of them a lil looser and it should be fine.

#9379 2 years ago

Has anyone installed the Stern headphone jack onto this machine? Was testing it out last night and it works fine, but I noticed that from 0 volume to full volume, the knob only turns like a 16th of the dial for that full range. Would like it to be more representative of the knob range.. If that makes sense.

Wasnt sure if there was something I can do to correct that.

Thanks.

#9380 2 years ago

Leaving the club.

Was nice having the game for the last 5 years, but it's time to move on and create room.

I can only hope the game will be as well cared for, for the next 50 as it was the last 5.

Hello all
I just received my Ghostbusters Pro. Any advice on getting a smooth plunge every time. I’ve played a few on location and they all had much smoother plunges into orbit. Mine rattles 50-60% of the time.

Reduce the ball launch coil power.

If using shooter rod ,
Adjust shooter rod housing so shooter rod tip hits ball centered ( squarely).
Hitting ball too high or too low, too left or too right will Make for rough or undesirable ball launches.

I bought this library for my pro since I don't know how to track down one of the Stern stock ones. Good quality/paint job I think. Light up effects are decent.

very rarely get a air ball since putting in the revised target brackets but had one yesterday fly over and hit the car and wedged in

Was definitely a must have mod for me too! That and I made the diy containment unit mod. They look great in the game.

I also have my Ecto 1 in the same spot in front of the fire station, but slimmer keeps hitting it. It’s on with Velcro so twists up over time. I need to make it more permanent. Ha!

#9391 2 years ago

I drilled and tapped a hole in the bottom of ecto and drilled a hole in the clear plastic and bolted mine in place with a 1/4" flat head bolt.........it is'nt going anywhere

Sorry for newb-esque post, but what do you get extra with the premium over the pro on this game? I have a chance to buy a pro, but am wondering if it's worth holding out for a premium... thanks!!

Premium Adds:
Metal Ramp / subway for ball lock
Lcd Ecto Goggles
Magna Slings
Library Sculpt
Swing Slimer - better movements
Containment Facility is a sculpt

Different Art Package

Might be more but I own the Pro and super happy with it

If you like GB either one is enjoyable but a Prem offers more goodies

Super happy with my pro too. Ghostbusters is a great game in any versio and one of the most entertaining.

I've never played one, but was always attracted by it... the things that give me reservations are reported node board failures and linear gameplay... how linear IS the gameplay? I had Pinball Magic, loved the artwork and the toys were 2nd to none! but the linear gameplay made me end up selling it... is Ghostbusters as linear as that?
