Damn, was hoping you would say trade from the Laseriffic one.

We'll see how things play out in the next couple of months ...

For those that recently got a GB, check to make sure that these service bulletins were taken care of for Node boards 8 & 9. Marco has these kits. I did mine tonight. There's a power extension with a capacitor that needs to be installed and a spacer put in place with a zip tie for the D9 diode stability. I know that early on there were node board issues, but I don't know if these really resolved the issues. I had a spare kit and installed them anyway.

Stern will give you those for free.. Not sure if Marco had you pay for them.

#8454 3 years ago

Yeah I got those for free too. I didn’t use the zip tie method though, at the recommendation of teddyb73 I hot glued that diode instead.

Id bet there are a bunch of ways to keep that diode in place. It just needs to be supported.

Funny enough, a year ago, my Node Board died. Could had sworn that I installed the service bulletin stuff as I remembered exactly what they looked like.

I ended up finding them in their original bag inside the cabinet never installed! lol Whoops!

I joined the club about 2 years ago with a Premium, but I just started posting. Hello!

#8457 3 years ago

Ok just finished the first kit , getting ready to go out . This is for the drop targets . The only thing I couldn’t source was the Scoleri bro’s decals . I added 2 Purple and 2 white comet leds , zip ties , 2 light sockets with connectors for easy removal to work on drop mechs and I also added the spring kit fix as well . Not sure what I’m going to price these for yet , but thinking around $80 shipped in the states I still Need to do a photo and instruction sheet . If anyone is interested please pm me .

Hey all. Just throwing a quick question out there.

I got a new Premium less than a year ago and it was working great for awhile, then all the service buttons and volume buttons stopped working one day a few months ago and I haven't been able to get them to function since.

mbelofsky came to my rescue on here and he's been extremely kind to help me walk me through some of the diagnostics. I've tried various attempts at jumping the pins at the Service Panel, the Coin Interlock Board, and all the way up to CN 25 on the CPU but no luck. We reached out to Stern and they're saying if all the attempts to jump pins are unsuccessful, then that probably means I'd need to replace the CPU.

Before going down that road, I just wanted to post this again to the hive mind, in case anyone had any similar bugs or has any suggestions to try.

Thanks! G

Could someone please explain feature adjustment 19. Thanks!

#8460 3 years ago

Those scolari brothers look cool, but is it just lit up or will it pulse when they are under the playfield, would be a cool effect that they are living under there waiting to pop up.

What are the opinions on Color DMD versus keeping it stock? Do the colors enhance your game or do you like it pure?

Colordmd rocks, especially on GB

No brainer upgrade for this title. Love it.

Agree with everyone else, must have

#8465 3 years ago

Absolutely! A must have for GB.

#8466 3 years ago

Agree, color is awesome on this title.

We just put one on ours and love it. Does nothing to enhance gameplay but looks awesome! Have not played cross the streams yet.

Can I borrow 400 bucks? Anyone?

#8470 3 years ago

Hers a cool mod I’ve been toying around with for awhile now. Finally got it installed and now I’m just waiting for a GB memory card to install (currently has a Star Trek card in it)

OK. Understanding the LCD vs LED debate which did everyone choose? Any pictures to share?

We chose LCD. The only photo I have at the moment. I am sure some other pinsiders will help out with a few photos.

LCD because of the versatility of the different pixelization modes.

#8474 3 years ago

Look there is no right or wrong here, LCD or LED. I like the LED, black is black and colors are beautiful. I do not mind I do not have other modes. I like pixels, I like the look and feel. Also like the perfect fit of the LED versus the LCD. But again if you fancy all the modes, you can go with LCD.

LCD on my GB

Will Never turn back !!

I like how the LCD can still look stock from the outside, but I am battling my OCD and knowing it is not a perfect fit inside. Welcome to my warped mind.

Color DMD can supply a foam gasket that will solve your OCD. PinMonk developed them and they are awesome! We have the gasket on GB and TWD. They work great.

I’m gonna get shammed for this but my ghostbusters is my only machine out of 5 that’s an lcd and I run it in dots xl and wish it was an led.

You will love it. We held out for ages.. just could not resist!

#8482 3 years ago

The LED is on the way! Thanks for all the opinions.

#8483 3 years ago

Good choice.

#8484 3 years ago

I have the LCD which I like, as others have said, you get different options for how the display looks. But something to note for GB, I cannot run it on Hi Res as it has so much blur.. XL Dots or Dots seems to be the best fit for GB.

#8485 3 years ago

I use LCD on all my games, I'm just not a fan of the jumbotron look. Glad you found something that you like though!

Does anyone have a picture of the mylar on the right orbit? I have examined the area and I don't see it to remove it, but I certainly have an issue with that switch not registering. I searched the topic, but didn't turn up any pictures of it. Thanks!

There is no Mylar on my right orbit.

If you were a little closer I'd gladly trade it for my LED!

I had to bend mine a little (this was right out of the box). Do a switch test to make sure it works at all and then try making it a little higher.

Might not be the appropriate fix, but it worked for me.

#8494 3 years ago

Thanks! I looked last night and my machine doesn't have the mylar. Going to try an airball protector from cpr9999 to see if that helps, then I'll try bending the switch.

The alignment holes for the flippers seem really droopy. Previous owner matched them, maybe a touch lower but it doesn't seem right. Are you matching the lane guide or the holes?

Stock is droopy. I prefer a bit higher.

We match every game to the holes. The holes are meant to be the middle of the end of the flipper. Play them how they were designed to be played! It is up to you how you set it up. Each to their own!

Mine sit exactly like this and I have no issues at all.

I'm able to make all of the shots, it just feels a little odd. I'm not sure I've ever seen a game not match the inlane.

#8500 3 years ago

It’s worth experimenting with the flipper position. I moved mine higher to match the inlane position and think it plays better. I remember way-back-when some folks said Stern admitted they messed up with the flipper guide hole placement on GB, but I’m not sure if that’s true.
